‹ Prequel: Everything I'm Not

Love's Requiem

Poison

"What are you fucking crazy?" I exclaimed.

"See there's the reaction I was expecting." Jesse told Mike who nodded.

"I'm a girl! Let alone-just no! Why would you even consider me?"

"You were Frankie's first choice." Jesse told me while Frankie nodded.

"You sadistic prick!" I told Frankie, "Get Alex to do it."

"He's done with that stuff he's got a regular 9 to 5."

"What about Sean?"

"On tour."

"Forget it, there's no way I sound like a girl!"

"No you don't!"

"I don't know any of the new songs."

"Three days of practice you'll be fine." Mike encouraged. "We could even tape down the words to stage until you get them down."

"Please Bella, we need you." Jesse pleaded.

"Fine, but you owe me so bad! All of you!" I huffed getting up.

"Where are you going?"

"Make dinner." I mumbled going in to the kitchen.

"Best person ever!" Jesse exclaimed following me.

We ate dinner and hung out for a while until they went home and I called Alex to tell him the change of plans.

"So guess what." I told Alex while I was getting in to bed.

"You decided to come here?" Alex said hopefully.

"Worse."

"You decided to move to Baltimore?"

"I'm going on tour with Emmure in three days."

"Fill in TM?"

"I wish."

"Roadie, selling merch?"

"Nope, actually I'm filling in for Frankie cause he's sick."

"Oh wow." He said in shock.

"Tell me about it." I mumbled.

"You'll be fine Bella." He told me, as I felt a smile on my face.

"Bella you got this in the fucking bag!" Jesse exclaimed the second day of rehearsal. "You're
going to kill it."

"Stop trying to butter me up now can we end it early so I can go shopping?" I asked him.

"I see no reason why not." Mike said from behind the drums.

"See ya guys!" I exclaimed heading out the door.

"Where are you going?" Jesse asked.

"Roosevelt Field, you down?" I asked.

"Sure, why not." He laughed as we headed out.

"So what's the reason behind this shopping extravaganza?" Jesse asked me.

"I have to get dresses for Croatia." I explained going through the rack. "I have a bridal shower, and a rehearsal as well as my birthday to deal with over there."

"I forgot about that."

And two days later I was on a plane to San Antonio with my stomach in so many knots I had even lost count. The major upside of this tour besides it being with Jesse and my close friends from home was that, winds of plague was on the tour as well which meant I had John to keep me sane. The first day of the tour, I pretty much didn't leave the bus until it was show time. I also had planned out the best way to stick it to the guys for guilt tripping me in to doing this favor for them. And what was that? I was going to dress like a girl as many days as possible, we were talking dresses, sandals, the whole nine yards. I was busy video chatting with Alex before the set in hopes of not throwing up again like I had been doing all morning long due to nerves.

"You're going to do fine Bella." Alex promised me, as I frowned.

"I hope so." I said taking a deep breath as I heard someone pound on the bus door.

"Come on Bella it's time!" I heard John's voice from outside.

"Break a leg kid." Alex smiled.

"I wish." I mumbled. "I love you, I'll give you a call once I'm off stage."

"I love you too Bella." He said as I closed my laptop and headed off the bus.

"A dress really Bella?" John laughed as we headed inside.

"I feel pretty." I mumbled, making him shake his head.

"Bella what the fuck?" Jesse exclaimed as I walked in to the dressing room where everyone was getting ready to go on.

"I like it don't you?" I smirked doing a curtsey with the black dress I had on.

"You're doing this to get back at us aren't you?" Mike asked as he surveyed my outfit.

"It's not even that bad, I'm taking the Marta approach." I explained.

And I really was, I had a black dress with a white design on it, black footless tights, along with a pair of black gladiator sandals since it was so hot out.

"I think she looks fine." John defended.

"You're just saying that cause you love bleeding through almost as much as she does." Jesse joked as I followed everyone to the back stage area.

"You got this Bella." John encouraged me as he rubbed my shoulders while everyone began taking their place on stage as the intro played.

"There's no more love, trust, respect, or loyalty." I heard Frankie's voice through the PA, as well as the crowd going insane.

"This is it Bella." John said as I took a deep breath.

"Product of my surroundings!" I growled as I ran out.

I think everyone was taken back at first seeing as their beloved vocalist was being filled in for by a chick, we went in to the first song and the kids were still in to it despite it was me and not Frankie. I also noticed that I must have been the hype of the tour because almost all the bands were on the sides watching our set.

"San Antonio!" I shouted after the song, "I know I'm not Frankie but he's sick and unfortunately I was the only one who could fill in. I'm pretty sure they'll give you a refund if you leave now." I joked as we went in to the second song. 45 minutes later we were still very well received which was psyching me out personally because I still felt that having me do vocals was one huge mistake.

"Good night! Unearth is up next!" I exclaimed at the end of the set as I ran off stage. "Well?" I asked John as he handed me towel.

"You killed it!" John and one of his guitarists shouted hugging me.

"Really? It wasn't bad?" I asked.

"Does that sound like you did bad?" He asked as I heard the crowed cheering.

"I don't know." I mumbled making them both laugh.

"I think it's safe to say, Frankie's gotta a run for his job now." Jesse laughed hugging me, "Thank you so much." He added giving me another tight squeeze.
