‹ Prequel: Everything I'm Not

Love's Requiem

Devotion and Desire

"Come on Bella, get dressed let's go out!" Jesse whined.

"I'd like to give my liver a break for a day." I told him shaking my head as we all headed in to
the house.

"So drink soda."

"Jesse I'm exhausted, you three go out I'm going upstairs washing sand out of places sand should never be. Then changing in to comfy clothes and probably making myself something to eat while I watch highlights from the Dinamo game." I explained heading upstairs.

I showered and washed my hair that was sticky from the caked in sand as well as all the hair spray and gel that the lady had put in it the day before. After I got out of the shower and actually felt human again I changed in to a pair of black mesh shorts, a white born of osiris tee shirt, and a pair of black flip flops incase I had to run out to get food if I couldn't find anything worth eating in. I headed down the stairs, still drying my hair with a towel as I heard the TV in the living room on. I guess they changed their minds, I thought as I headed in the room only to find Niko there flipping through the channels.

"Where's the gremlins?" I asked jumping on the couch next to him.

"I believe and I quote, they went out to fuck bitches and get fucked up." Niko said the last part in english sending me in to a fit of laughter.

"Oh my god." I wheezed while I was still laughing.

"How is that funny?" He asked me confused.

"Just how you said it." I told him, "I totally have to give you one of the fuck bitches get money emmure hoodies when I get home." I added.

"Thanks?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.

"I have one." I shrugged, "I have a feeling I'm getting the tank top and girls short set too."

"Anyway." He said looking back at the TV, while I slapped him with the wet towel I had.

"What was that for?" He exclaimed laughing.

"Payback." I said as I hopped up knowing he was going to chase after me, which he did.

Niko chased me all around the living room, through the kitchen and in to the yard where he tackled me on to the grass.

"Jesus you got fat." I mumbled, feeling my ribs shift under his weight.

"Now if I remember correctly you're ticklish right about..." He paused as I felt him shift one of
his hand behind my knee cap. "Here." He finished and began tickling me.

"No, no, no uncle, uncle!" I said wiggling around trying to get free.

"Say your sorry for hitting me with the towel."

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry for hitting you with the towel!" I exclaimed.

"You're forgiven." He chuckled getting off me and sitting up.

"Too easy." I said flicking his head and running, only to get caught two seconds later.

"Too slow." He said shaking his head.

"Okay, okay that was the last time." I chuckled as he let me go and we headed inside. "Are you hungry?" I asked him, as I went to the fridge.

"Yeah." He nodded standing behind me and looking in over my head, seeing as he towered over me.

"It's times like this when I miss New York." I told him with a sigh not finding anything in the fridge worth eating.

"And why is that?"

"I could really go for pizza."

"So we'll walk to Rubelj."

"They have pizza? I thought it was just a barbecue place?" I asked getting money from my
wallet and set of keys as we locked up and left.

"Nope." He said as we walked. "You picked a great shirt to wear." He said to me sarcastically as he read the back of it.

"Well it's too late now for me to cover it, besides how many people are really going to know what it means?" I asked him.

"Still."

"Eh everyone will be too excited to see the great, Niko Kranjcar to care that my shirt says "fucking bow down" on the back" I told him.

"Don't use me as a diversion."

"I don't have to, you're one all on your own." I teased as we got to the restaurant.
I went in and ordered a pizza to go while people swarmed around Niko outside for autographs and pictures.

"Hvala." I smiled as I picked up the pizza 20 minutes later. "Mr. Kranjcar dinner's ready." I
mocked as I watched him make his way through the crowd.

"Don't say a word." He told me as he took the pizza from me.

"I was right." I smirked as we walked.

Once back, I broke out the plates while Niko opened the box.

I took a bite of the slice Niko handed me, and shook my head putting it on my plate.

"This isn't pizza." I mumbled.

"Oh really?" He asked me with a smirk.

"It's too fresh and healthy, I want my greasy, sloppy, messy, brooklyn pizza I get in a tiny hole in the wall pizzeria run by some italian guy wearing a gold necklace and white tee shirt
playing the mets game on the TV or the radio."

"Oh I think we have one of those it's right down the street." He told me sarcastically as he
shook his head.

"What do you know, you'll see come visit New York and stay with me you'll fall in love with
the pizza the same way I did when I was five."

"Cause how you described it sounds so appetizing." He joked.

"That's it Niko, one summer you're coming to New York and I'm taking you to get Pizza, a
mets game, and whatever else that I can't think of at this moment." I told him.

"Okay." He said as we finished eating.

After we ate, we started watching highlights from the Dinamo and Hajduk games as well as arguing about certain parts of them.

"So you know you still haven't answered my question from before." I said still looking at the TV. "She hates me doesn't she?"
