‹ Prequel: Everything I'm Not

Love's Requiem

Smoke ya later

Two weeks later we were somewhere in the Midwest, and I had enough of Jack nagging me.

“Tonight, okay I will talk to him tonight I promise.” I assured Jack that morning while I was heading inside the venue to do prep work.

“About fucking time!” He sighed shaking his head at me.

That night, after the show and about 15 minutes to bus call I figured now would be the best time to try and talk to him as long as I could get him alone with out anyone around.

“Have any of you seen Alex?” I asked after I loaded and locked up the trailer.

“Nope,” Jack said shaking his head while he signed a few more autographs.

“I think he was getting a few more drinks in before we head to the hotel.” Vinny told me as I nodded and headed inside the venue and to the bar.

When I walked in, I found Alex busy flirting with some red head that was working behind the bar.

“What time do you get off? I’m in town for two another days.” I heard Alex say to her smoothly.

“Over it.” I mumbled turning on the balls of my feet and heading to the bus.

“What happened?” Jack asked as I walked on to the bus, with five minutes left till bus call.

“So fucking over it,” I began as I headed right for my bunk, “If he’s not back for van call leave
with out him.” I said before I jumped in my bunk sliding the curtain shut.

Needless to say, Alex didn’t make bus call that night. Nor was he there for breakfast the next morning.

“Any of you hear from Alex at all he never came back last night?” Rian asked as the five us sat at the diner down the street from the hotel eating breakfast that morning.

“Last I saw him was when he ran inside to the bar.” Vinny explained, “Other than that haven’t heard from him since.” He added.

I felt miserable; I know understood how he probably felt when he put two and two together with Niko and I. I kept to myself during breakfast picking at my food, Jack noticed it and would nudge me to attempt to get me to eat.

“So are we seeing that movie today?” Zack asked a little while later while everyone was getting another refill on their coffee.

“Yeah, the weather is too shitty to really do anything else.” I sighed watching the dark clouds roll in, it was mid October and it was already drastically dropping in temperature.

A second later Jack’s phone started ringing.

“Yo?” Jack answered, while I drank my coffee. “Yeah hold on I’ll ask her, Bella Alex wants to know the cross streets of the hotel.” Jack asked me as I nearly choked as I felt a lump develop in my throat.

“Hilton on Village West Parkway.” I answered, as I heard Jack repeat it to him.

“Yeah, alright see you in a bit.” He went on and then hung up.

It was quite for a few minutes after that, so I figured I’d just break it and get it over with.

“Want to go find out the movie times and get a shower in maybe?” I suggested throwing money down on the table as I got up.

“Yeah why not?” Vinny agreed as him, Rian, Zack and Jack got up and we headed out the door.

Just as we were walking out of the diner, a cab pulled up and Alex hopped out.

“I thought we were getting breakfast?” Alex asked confused while everyone stopped but Vinny and I.

“We did, you never showed up.” I heard Rian explain.

Jack of course stayed back at the diner with Alex after all that was one of his best friends. I took a shower, and changed in to warmer clothes: Niko’s Dinamo shirt, and a pair of black jeans.

“Nice shirt.” Jack told me sarcastically as I came out of the bathroom drying my hair.

“Homesick.” I mumbled.

“And I’m sure Alex and that girl had nothing to do with that decision as well?” He asked.

“You ever think that maybe you’re in the wrong profession? I’d look in to a talk show host or therapist.” I told him putting on my hoodie.

“I just know you way to well now, you realize how fucking complex you are?” He asked.

“I’m a fucking rubex cube.” I joked and hopped next to him on his bed.

“Look Alex can be a-“

“We’re not having this conversation.” I said stopping him in his tracks.

“You’re so stubborn at times.” He mumbled as I rolled off the bed and got up. “Now where are you going?”

“Rian’s room to figure out when the fuck we’re going to the movies.” I told him as I pulled a beanie over my head and left shoving money, and my room key in my back pocket.

“And once again she changes the subject knowing she has to talk about it sometime!” I heard Jack shout as he ran to catch up with me.

After we figured out what time showing we were going to, we headed out to the movie theatre and somehow during the movie I was stuck sitting next to Alex, who tried to make small talk with me after the movie.

“So what did you think of the movie Bella?” Alex asked me as I walked with Jack and Vinny down the street.

“Not enough murder and slaughter.” I said simply.

“Bella it was a comedy.” Jack said confused.

“My point exactly!” I replied making everyone laugh.

“Only you, Bella.” Vinny chuckled as we headed in to a pizzeria.
