‹ Prequel: Everything I'm Not

Love's Requiem

Let's go into twilight

That night was completely not productive; I still had no clue what to get him. I had already gotten him some clothes and a fitted, I now just needed that one gift that would mean the most. The next day when Jesse and I went to the city I was still stuck.

“Still nothing?” Jesse asked as we walked down the street.

“Completely blank.” I told him, as I was texting Alex. “I’m running out of time, I leave less than a week from today” I groaned.

“Would there be any chance of you finding him something in the motherland?” He asked me.

And then somehow it hit me.

“A new guitar!” I exclaimed. “That’s it! I’ll get him a new acoustic guitar!” I said yanking him down the street to where the nearest Guitar Center was.

So I did just that, and it was beautiful. I got him a Gibson acoustic electric so he would be able to use it on stage.

“You think he’ll like it?” I asked Jesse as we were heading home.

“I can tell you if he doesn’t I will gladly take it off his hands.” He laughed.

“I’m just glad I found him something finally.” I sighed in relief.

“How are you going to bring that to Croatia?” He asked me.

“That I have no clue. I think I’m going to give it to him before we leave.”

“Sounds like a plan.” He nodded.

The next few days were hectic, my brother was driving me nuts because he wanted to know what I had gotten our
grandma, and if he had to pick up Alex and I so we could all go to the airport together or if he was just going to meet us at the airport. Then I had Alex constantly asking me what to bring and what to get for people even though I told him nothing he refused to listen. And on top of them two I had packing to do.

“You’re not done yet?!” Alex exclaimed as he walked in to my apartment the day before we were leaving.

“Well it’s easy for you because you didn’t have to deal with yourself and Niko” I told him throwing more clothes in to my
suitcase.

“Excuses.” He mumbled.

“So I want to give you one of your presents early because there’s no way I can pack it.” I told him.

“Now I’m afraid.” He said as I pushed him out of my room and in to the living room.

I ran back to the guest room where I had the guitar semi wrapped with some ribbon and a bow.

“Close your eyes!” I shouted to him as I came in to the living room.

“Okay!” He said covering his face.

I came up behind him on the couch and put the guitar in his lap.

“Open.” I whispered.

“You’re fucking kidding me!” He exclaimed picking it up. “This is amazing, thank you I love it I love you.” He added puling me over the couch and onto his lap giving me a kiss.

“Your welcome.” I smiled and pulled him in to another kiss as he put down the guitar and we ran into my room to do a bit more than packing.

The morning was pure freaking chaos. I still had packing to finish before Jesse showed up with the van at 3.

“Baby would you calm down.” Alex said pulling me up from the floor and in to a tight hug.

“I have too many things to do and not enough time” I panicked.

“Shhh” He hushed and rocked me back and forth. “Bella, what do you have left to do besides packing?” He whispered as
he still held me close to him.

“Shower, and get ready.”

“What if I packed while you showered? Just tell me what else you need?”

“That could work.”

“Go shower, I got this.” He told me giving me a wink.

“Are you sure?”

“If it keeps you calm then definitely.” He smiled.

“Okay” I sighed and headed in to the bathroom.

And he was right, when I was showered, dressed, with hair and make up done Alex had me packed and ready.

“Are you okay now?” He asked me.

“It all depends.”

“On what?”

“If you’re still going.”

“Then you’re better than okay.” He smiled as he pulled me on to the bed with him. “I love you so much Bella.” He told me as my phone rang which meant Jesse would be up any minute to help us bring everything down to the van.

“I love you too.” I told him, as he gave me one more squeeze and kiss before we got up.

“Now Alex, I think it’s only fair that I should tell you this now.” Jesse said as we were checking in at the airport.

“Tell me what?” Alex asked.

“That Bella’s family can get very loud and is very big.”

“Very funny Jesse.” I said shaking my head. “Where the hell is Niko?” I exclaimed.

“Call him?” Jesse asked.

“Oh yeah!” I said as Alex slapped his own forehead.

“Sometimes I wonder about you.” He told me.

“You’ll stop eventually and realize you’re better off.” Jesse explained.

“This is true.”

“Niko, where are you?” I asked after he picked up.

“I’m at the gate already where are you?” My brother asked me.

“Soon to be there once we say good by to Jesse.” I told him and then hung up. “He’s at the gate.” I told them.

“Alright” Jesse began. “You both get there safe and have fun. And if you can call me, text me or just some how tell me
you got there okay.” He finished as he hugged Alex and then me.

“Will do.” I told him. “I love you man.” I said hugging him tightly.

“Thanks for everything Jess.” Alex told him as he took my hand and we headed to our gate.

“So is your brother’s girlfriend Croatian?” Alex asked me as we walked.

“No, I believe she’s French actually.”

“How come your parents aren’t on his case?”

“Cause I’m the baby.” I told him as I saw my brother in the distance.
