‹ Prequel: Everything I'm Not

Love's Requiem

What goes around

“Niko I’m okay really, you worry about me too much.” I chuckled as Niko and I walked Zita before we headed to my apartment.

“Well it looks like you have a golf ball on your cheek what am I supposed to do?” He joked.

“Cheek golf balls are hot this season.” I told him, with a smirk, making him laugh.

“You still don’t take anything seriously do you?”

“Only the important things.”

“And what would those be?”

“My family, my friends, and my job.”

“Not yourself?”

“God no,” I chuckled as we headed inside. “I’m a 7 year old trapped in a 24 year old’s body. I mean I look like a walking coloring book!” I joked.

The next few days I spent solely with Niko, not really wanting him to leave again. Over the next four days, him and I reconnected a lot, and somehow I think maybe he finally was going to give in and let us be together again.

“Niko just hear me out!” I exclaimed during one of our nightly disputes.

“Isabella no, it can’t happen!” Niko retorted.

“But why? Why not?”

“Your life is here now.”

“But I want a life with you! This is nothing compared to you!”

“You don’t know what you’re saying, you’re still upset over Alex.”

“Why are you always bringing him up? How about we talk about your wife then? They left us Niko that’s it its over.”

“You left Alex, he still is in love with you.”

“That’s not true.” I huffed.

“Isabella I can’t, you can’t”

“Why did you come here then? Why did you want to spend Christmas with me here?” I asked him quietly, “Don’t give me the friends line because Luka would never do this.”

“I wanted to spend time with you.”

“Why?”

“Because I love being around you.”

“Why?” I pressed.

“Enough with these questions Isabella, I’m leaving tomorrow night do you want to leave on a bad note?” He said changing the subject that told me I hit a nerve.

“You’re right,” I smirked, “This is stupid of me.” I went on.

“Don’t do that either.”

“Do what?”

“The woman thing! You’re going to act like I’m right and stew even more to the point where you’re probably going to stab me in my sleep.” He told me as I sat with him on the couch.

“I just wish you’d realize how much I care about you.” I told him with a sigh.

“I know how much, that’s something you don’t have to worry about.” He assured me kissing the top of my head.

The next evening after lunch with my brother and Angela I took Niko to the airport, only having to wait three weeks until I see him again.

Because, I’d be in Russia three weeks before the next tour I figured I’d start making the tour arrangements and all paper work taken care of before I left. That seemed to be the best idea because before I knew it I had a day left until I was leaving for Russia.

“So why are you going to Russia again in the middle of January?” Jesse asked me while I was packing.

“To meet my hero, Jesse to meet my hero.” I smirked as I packed the dress Niko had given me with the tickets.

“Henry Rollins is in Russia?” Jesse asked confused.

“He might be, but not him. Slaven Bilic head coach of the Croatian national soccer team.”

“As well as drool over Niko.”

“He’s not even gone two weeks and I somehow saw this already coming.”

“What the fuck is going on between you two, and is Alex completely out of the picture cause
you looked pretty heart broken when he showed up with Lisa New Years.”

“I’ve accepted I have to go with what’s good for me, not what I want.”

“So what does that mean?”

“It means I’m 24 and I am taking some time off of dating just to figure out where I’m going, and what I need.”

“I feel like that’s the best idea to ever come out of that tiny head of yours.”

“I thank you.”

“So did you and him hook up or what?”

“Jesse!”

“What I’m just curious!”

“Ach!” I exclaimed going back to my closet.

“So is the trip a just friends trip or a romantic week in the Siberian cold?”

“Luka will be there too you know.”

“From what I heard from Jack, that didn’t stop you last tour.” He smirked, “Owe!” He exclaimed as I threw a balled up shirt at his head.

“We’re not talking about it, it is nothing him and I are friends.”

“That make out.”

“Yes, exactly we are friends that make out!”

“Well now that clears everything up.” He nodded getting up and heading out to the kitchen.

“You give me gray hair!” I shouted to him.
