‹ Prequel: Everything I'm Not

Love's Requiem

Red Sky

“So, ready to meet your hero?” He joked as he kissed my temple. “You changed?” He asked as he helped me up and lead me somewhere else.

“In my defense, Jack’s idea.” I told him as he nodded.

“I thought you looked fine before.” He added.

“That I can’t agree with you on.” I told him as we walked in to a dining room.

“You never agree with anything.” Luka smirked, “Nice outfit,” He added sarcastically as he hugged me again.

“So what’s the peripherals am I the only female here?” I whispered to Luka as Niko when to talk to someone.

“Nope, Charlie’s wife is here, so far that’s all I know.”

“Okay, uhh would I get along with her?” I asked him.

“I guess you never did get along with girls growing up.” He joked.

“And who might this be?” Some one asked from behind me.

I turned to my left and saw the guy I always thought was the greatest person to ever come from Croatia, next to my grandpa, Slaven Bilic.

“This is me and Niko’s friend Isabella.” Luka said introducing us.

I stood there for a minute still in shock that I was standing next to the guy until Luka pinched my side.

“What? Sorry, I’m still really tired from the flight.” I said extending my hand to him.

“You speak very good Croatian.” He smiled shaking my hand.

“I would hope so I only lived there the first five years of my life.”

“Where are you from?”

“Zadar, but live in New York now.”

“How do you know Luka then?” He went on offering me a seat next to him.

And thus began the greatest hour and half of my life, sitting and talking about everything I ever wanted to with my hero.

“And to think I figured you would know nothing about football.” Bilic chuckled as we were getting up after eating lunch.

“Please, my father had me with a football as soon as I could walk. And you know, last winter I beat Niko in a one on one match. I think I could replace him.” I joked making him and Niko laugh.

“Niko, she’s wonderful!” Bilic told him. “Bring her to training, I wish to talk to her more.” He told us as he left.

“Do you feel accomplished now?” Niko laughed as we headed back to the room.

“Now all I have to do is meet Henry Rollins and I can die!” I exclaimed.

“You have such a wonderful look on life.” He said sarcastically.

I finally was able to nap for a bit, while Niko had to go to training from noon until 4pm. When he got back, we went out with a few of the other players to walk around the city as well as grab dinner.

“Are you nervous about tomorrow?” I asked Niko, as I slipped in to bed next to him.

“Yes and no.”

“Oh really?”

“I’m more nervous that you’ll be there watching.”

“Well that’s silly I mean I watched you play in the premier league.”

“This is different this is me representing our home, the last thing I want is us to lose and you getting upset.”

“I won’t be upset.” I defended.

“Jack told me how you were crying when we didn’t qualify for the world cup a few months ago.”

“That’s different!” I told him, making him smile

“Whatever you say, good night Isabella.” He told me giving me a kiss before I shut off the light and we fell asleep.
