‹ Prequel: Everything I'm Not

Love's Requiem

You've got it

When the cab pulled up in front of my grandma’s house my parents were already waiting outside.

“Ready?” I whispered to Alex.

“More than I’ll ever be.” He smiled as he grabbed my hand as we got out of the cab.

“Alex!” My mom exclaimed pulling him in to a big hug.

“Gee I feel loved how about you” I asked Niko while we hugged our dad.

“Seriously.” He told me.

“Isabella, Nikola” I heard my grandma’s voice echo from the kitchen as we walked inside.

“Baka!” We exclaimed running to the kitchen.
My grandma of course told Niko and me how big we got, and how she missed us, as well as how happy she was that we came this year for the holidays. The whole time I assume Alex was talking to my parents or they were showing him the room he was going to have

“Da baka” I was in the middle of saying to my grandma when Alex and my parents walked in to the kitchen.

My grandma looked at me and then said how handsome Alex was, and why didn’t she meet him first.

“Alex” I said still laughing at what my grandma said. “This is my grandma.”

“How do I say it’s nice to meet you?” Alex asked as my grandma pulled him in to a hug.

“Boli me kurac.” Niko said making my eyes widen.

“Nikola!” My mom said smacking him in the head.

“What? I thought it would be funny?” Niko defended.

“Boli me kurac ?” Alex said questioningly looking at me.

My grandma was laughing, and looked at my brother telling him to not be such a smart ass.

“Why do I get the feeling that means something else?” Alex asked me.

“Because, you pretty much just told my grandma that your dick hurts.” I told him and started laughing.

“I said what?” He exclaimed. “Tell me how to say I’m sorry I don’t speak Croatian?” he panicked.

“Pardon ne govorim hrvatski.” I told him still shaking my head at my brother.

“Okay” Alex said and then went up to my grandma. “Pardon, ne govorim hrvatski” He repeated trying to match me and Niko’s accent but failing.

My grandma smiled at him and hugged him again nodding her head. She then looked at me and told me to tell Alex that she’s happy he came as well.

“She says she’s glad you could make it.” I told him with a wink. “Now I don’t know about you but, I’m going upstairs to settle in” I said heading to the door way of the kitchen.

“You and Alex are going to be in the attic room.” My mom told me.

“Why aren’t I staying in me and Niko’s room?” I asked.

“Do you really think we’re that stupid?” My dad asked.

“Gotcha” I nodded and headed up stairs with Alex.

“Your grandma seems nice considering I told her my dick hurts” Alex mumbled as we went up the stairs.

“I’m sorry about that Alex, even if it was pretty funny.”

“That was not funny”

“To me it was”

“You and Niko always take the same side don’ you?” He asked me.

“We’re brother and sister, its in our blood to” I told him sympathetically.

“So when are you going to show me around?” He asked as we finally hit the attic

“After we eat lunch I’ll take you around here for now.” I assured him.

I put down my two suitcases by the wall and then plopped down on to the bed with Alex soon joining me.
