The Grim Adventures Of Billie Joe, Tre, and Mike

"Because it's National Stupid Day." Stupid, right?

“Hey, Mike, come here!” Billie Joe said.

Mike looked over at Billie and questioned him as to what he wanted.

“I need you to help me tune my guitar.”

Mike looked at him, as if he was crazy. He turned to his bass, and set it down on its stand.

“Why do you need me to help you tune your guitar? You do it everyday without help, so why do you need help now?” Mike replied questionably.

“Because it’s National Stupid Day. You’re supposed to act stupid the whole day. Nobody believes in it like I do, that’s why neither you nor Tre are acting stupid. Now come over here and help me tune my guitar!”

“Dude, why are you talking normally if you’re supposed to be acting stupid? Dude, no, I’m not helping you.”

MIKE’S POINT OF VIEW

I couldn’t help but wonder why Billie wanted me to help him. From all the years living with him, playing guitar with him, being in a band with him, he has never acted like an idiot on this “National Stupid Day.” You’d think I would have already heard of it, being his best friend for eighteen years. But no, it comes up this year, 2007, in the studio practicing songs for the new record. I couldn’t help but wonder if he felt the same way, too. I hated being around him because I thought that I might do something stupid, like… well; I think you know what I’m talking about. It scares me, it really does.

BILLIE’S POV

What a meanie face. I just asked him to help me to tune my guitar, and he acted like I asked him to kiss me or something. He’s just sitting there now, lost in his own thoughts. I wonder what his problem was. For the past month or two, he’s been avoiding me. I don’t know why. I liked being around him, although I think I liked being around him a little too much. Its not like I can shake off these feelings in an instant, can I?

NO ONE’S POV

“Stop being mean and help me, please?” Billie pleaded.

Mike looked over to Tre, who was just giggling his head off at the situation. Normally he would be the one making the joke and it would be Billie Joe and Mike laughing up a storm. This time, it’s the other way around.

“Fine. But don’t think for one second that I’m going to be your slave today.”

“You know, it’s not the life it seems. For the last time, take a good hard look. I’m not okay, trust me. I’m telling you the truth; I mean this: I’m not okay.”

“Bill, quit quoting My Chemical Romance, and it’s not ‘I mean this: I’m not okay’, it’s ‘I mean this: I’m okay, trust me.’ You really need to work on that.”

“But I gave you blood! Gallons of the stuff! I gave you all that you could drink! It has never been enough! I’m a vampire! YAY!”

“It’s for the bodies I claim, Billie.”

TRE’S POV

I must say it was quite amusing to watch them quote MCR back and fourth. I started twirling my drumsticks around my fingers, watching intently.

“You have no bodies to claim, Michael.”

“Well, William Joseph, you don’t either.”

“Don’t call me that! That’s not even my real name!”

“Then don’t call me Michael. You know I hate it.”

“Then let’s call Tre Frank!”

Wait, wait? No… they are not going to call me Frank. I hate my real name. Then again, so did Billie and Mike.

“Hi, Frank Edwin Wright III! How are you? I’m positively purple! Which is good!” Billie screeched.

“Uh, I’m fine, thanks.”

“Aw, you’re no fun. You’re supposed to get mad.”

“Exactly why I’m not.”

MIKE’S POV

When the three of us calmed down from our, well, I don’t know what it was; we decided to take a break. We all went to a nearby fast food restaurant and everyone ordered something, besides Billie. He hates fast food. He says it’s too greasy and it gives him pimples. He’s such a girl sometimes.

While we were eating, Tre got up and went to the bathroom. Knowing him, he was going to take forever, like he normally does. Billie and I were then left in an awkward silence.

“So…why do you always avoid me?”

Quick Mike, think of something!

“What? I…um…”

“What is it, dude? You know you can tell me anything.”

“You know that you’re my best friend, right Billie?”

“Yeah, I know that. You’re my best friend too.”

“You know it’ll be always and forever?”

“Always and forever.”

I took a deep breath and mentally prepared myself to see Billie running out of the restaurant.

“I...I kind of love you.”

“I love you too, Mike.”

“Not as a best friend, Bill.”

“I know. I love you too.”
