One Hundred Words

Endless Summer

The sun’s rays beat down on my face, but I welcomed the warmth. I welcomed the breeze that rushed across the sand, blowing the stray strands of hair that had escaped my ponytail across my face. I was utterly content, focusing only on the relaxation of every muscle of my body.

School was out, and I now had two months to do nothing but work on my tan. The idea of not having to do algebra homework or write an essay on Dante’s Inferno was exhilarating.

“Pina colada?” I peeked an eye open to find a bronzed chest leaning over me with a glass of something cold. My gaze rose to the handsome face that accompanied the shirtless, well-toned body.

“Please,” I responded, a pleasant smile spreading across my features as he handed over the frozen drink.

“My name’s Jacob if you need anything else, miss.” His brilliant smile glistened in the afternoon sun, and as he walked back to the club house, I couldn’t help but let my eyes trail after him, watching the smooth motion of each muscle of his body.

As I leaned back on my chair, sipping my drink, I sighed. I was in heaven.
