Fin thinks I should tell my parents that I'm in GSA, just so it doesn't come as quite a shock when I tell them I'm gay. I guess it's not a bad idea, but I think I want to come out at school first, then maybe tell my parents later the same day. I definitely want to come out before the Coming Out party, so I can enjoy it more.
Last night at dinner Jerry was talking about a guy at his wrok, Jordan, who was getting married in March. It took me a few minutes to catch on that this guy's fiancé was a guy. I figured it out when Jerry said that Jordan had taken the day off to pick out suits with Sebastian. Tommy caught on a few minutes after I did and he needed a bit of an explanation. Mom and Jerry hadn't anticipated that. They were a little panicky and they stumbled over their words, but, for the most part, they were honest with him. They also told him that women can fall in love with other women and that just confused him more. I found the whole thing quite funny
I remember he asked if he was going to fall in love with a man and Jerry handled that well. He told Tommy that no one can answer that question for him and that, when he's older, he'll be entitled to fall in love with whomever he chooses. I was beaming when I heard that.
It let me know that my parents weren't homophobes, which is good news for me. I'm excited and nervous about coming out and I don't know exactly how to go about it, I mean, I haven't planned it out or anything. But I know that if I wait too much longer then I could run the danger of accidentally blurting it out at the worst possible time. I've got to be careful.
