I was amazed. Connor’s house was big, grand as the school. Connor’s family should’ve acted differently, but they were all together, all around, nice. They treated Barbod as a brother; I wondered if that’s how they treated everyone. I turned my thoughts back to where we were going.

“You okay, Mel?” Barbod asked, slowly taking my hand. I looked at him.

“Yeah, but where are we going?” I asked and he smiled.

“Somewhere,” he answered, “you’ll watch me go against Nick, one at one, and not like earliers.”

“Hah, ‘earliers’? What the hell is that?” I laughed.

He looked at me, “You know what I mean.”

“Yeah, I do,” I giggled and pushed his brown hair away from his face, “but why’d you bring me along down here?”

“I want you to learn something,” he responded, sort of laughing, “and plus, I want to go against you before the tournament.”

“No, I’m sorry,” I sighed, “I can’t do that.”
