At this point, we were holding hands, about an inch apart from each other. One of his hands was in mine and the other was resting on my lower back. He pulled me closer; our bodies were touching. Closer; our noses were touching. Even closer, and then our lips were pressed together and he was kissing me. I wrapped one of my arms around his neck and placed my other hand on top of his brown curls, running my fingers through his hair. Nick's hand pressed against my lower back, bringing my body closer to his. His tongue ran gently along my lower lip, asking for entrance; I couldn't deny him. He tried to take a step forward, but it didn’t really work, since we were already as closely intertwined as humanly possible, so I fell over backwards, pulling him over on top of me.
Then it was over. In a matter of seconds, it wasn’t romantic or sweet anymore. It was extremely awkward and now we were both bright red. It took us a minute to extricate ourselves from the sticky situation; moving our legs and arms so that we weren’t stuck together quite as closely as before, and then removing his body from on top of mine. There was a lot of blushing and awkwardness and silent swearing and arranging of body parts until we were both standing upright about a foot away from each other.
“Bravo Nick!” said a voice from the back of the room. We both spun around.
It was Joe.
“Didn’t know you had it in you! Now I can actually admit to the fact that we’re related!”
“Nick, you set me up!” I said angrily.
“No, Laura, I didn’t, I swear-" Nick started.
“Save it. Just leave me alone. All of you. If Matt needs me, you guys don’t know where I am.”
“Laura!”
Nick swore out loud, something I had never heard him do, but it still didn’t faze me.
“Just leave me alone. I’m not kidding; I’m done with you. Go away.”
“Laura?”
