Forever Is A Long Time
"After this one I swear I'm done," I told her before I left.
"You say that every time," she sighed.
"I promise. No more after him."
"For how long?" she asked. I looked at her quizzically.
"Forever," I said. My voice sounded strong, but I knew I was weak. Too weak to keep that promise.
"Forever is a long time," she said, shaking her head. And with that, I walked out the door and never came back.
