In a hurry I sat up to the sound of my phone vibrating on the table next to me. I blinked repeatedly until my eyes came into focus and realized it was dark out side. I leaned over and hit the switch to the lights that hung above me in my cabaña. Dang I must have slept longer than planned. I wrapped my self in the blanket that I had been snuggled under and stood up to turn on the out door heater. Finally I grabbed my phone.

One new Text, my phone read so I flipped it open

Unknown number: You’re so beautiful, finally after 2 years we can be 2gether

My stomach sank…who was this? As I went to reply back my phone buzzed in my hand again.

Unknown number: No matter what…nothing will stop me from being with U

I stood up to look around I peered threw the curtains facing towards the road and didn’t see anything. The road was dark except for the glow of the street light. Again another text

Unknown number: P.S. you looked beautiful tonight

My blood went cold and the next thing I knew I heard a thud behind me. I jumped so high it about knocked me off the side of the balcony until I felt the grip of a hand wrap around my arm and yank me back on my feet.

“Please NO!” I yelled and turned to see Joe, his face confused as he let go of my arm quickly as if he hurt me.

“Ava I’m sorry I didn’t mean to scare you…are you alright?” he now stepped back

“Joe…Joe! I’m glad to see you right about now” I said wrapping my arms around his shoulders

“Whoa Ava what’s wrong are you alright?” his arms were wrapped tight around me as well as he guided me towards the couch and sat me down

“I just got a really weird text message from an unknown number…did Nick change his phone number by chance?” I questioned Joe whose face now was confused even more than before

“No not that I know of let me see what number you have in your phone” Joe grabbed my phone and searched for Nick’s number.

“Nope it’s the same…can I look at the text’s you got?” I nodded my head in agreement
“Ava I don’t like these…” Joe was now standing in front of me his face was concerned

“Nether do I Joe but really there’s not much I can do. I can’t assume its Jack he’s still in lock up” I think.

“I guess Ava but this isn’t Nick’s doing. He hasn’t been around his phone all day he’s been down stairs moping. Besides he hardly ever uses his phone anymore” Joe tossed my phone back to me as if he was annoyed

“I wasn’t accusing him of anything Joe, I just asked”

“Well maybe you should take his feelings into consideration ya know” Joe seemed pissed off for no reason

“Joe relax really Nick’s not a creeper so I don’t think this is him anyways.” Now I was the one confused

“Look I’m sorry okay, I guess I’m” Joe paused

“Look forget it”

“No Joe what…your what?” he now sat in the chair across from mine

“Its just when I see two people that still have something for one another I think they should be together” here we go again Joe just doesn’t give up

“Joe you don’t even know for sure if Nick still has feelings for me” as I finished my phone buzzed again

All the blood in my face drained and it was now pale white.

“J…J…Joe, this person can see us” I choked out

“What? How do you know” Joe was at a guarded stance now

“They said good night to me…and told me to tell you good night too” tears began to rush to my eyes as I held them back. My throat felt tight…I feel sick.

“Ava you need to go in your house and lock the doors…you shouldn’t be out here”

“I don’t want to…honestly I feel safest out here rather then in that big house by my self”

“Fine then I’m staying here” Joe was pacing now
“No Joe I’ll be okay…look my doors in the house are locked…I’ll keep my phone out here I’ll be fine. I probably wont get much sleep anyway tonight I over slept my nap and now I’ll be up all night working on stuff for my label” I looked at the clock on my phone 9:45pm, yup I was going to be up all night.

“Ava are you sure?” Joe’s face became more worried as he was searching for an answer in mine

“Yes I promise” Joe finally eased up and he decided he was going to sleep in Nick’s room on the floor with the doors open just to be safe. As he disappeared into the house I entered mine and grabbed everything I’d need to survive the night. And as I re entered my balcony I saw a face I wasn’t expecting to see.
