Just What I Needed
The week went by and nothing much seemed to change or happen. It was like I was just going with the flow neither content or disappointed…maybe tilting towards disappointment. I was still going out with the ever boring Will and Oli was still going out with the ever slutty Sarita. I looked at him from across the class he seemed to be in a world of his own. His face was long and down and I had never seen him look so helpless before especially when Sarita came along and sat on his lap and he looked as though he wanted to shrink into the earth.
“Pauline I need a weekend away from all this lets do something” I complained
“Yea ok wanna sleep over my place tonight we can have a girls night and then tomorrow we can do nothing and watch movies and drink hot chocolate and eat pop corn” she laughed seeming to like the idea as much as I did
“That sounds perfect I don’t think I could handle another weekend at home” I smiled
The day went by and the only thing that got me through was the thought of my girls only slumber with Pauline tonight
“Do you wanna go catch a movie tomorrow” Will asked as I was about o head off to find Pauline to find out what time she wanted me at her place
“I can’t im sorry baby im having a girly weekend with Polly” I smiled politely
“Oh that’s ok have a good weekend” he said before kissing me intently he tasted kind of bad like I don’t know what but I didn’t like it one bit I wondered if he felt something or if maybe it was just me.
I finally managed to find Polly she was wrapped in Alex’s arms and they were pulling faces at each other they really were the perfect couple
“Hey Lace” Alex said brightly
“Hey, hey Poll what time you want me over tonight?” I asked
“Oh come by whenever just after dinner maybe I think my parents are going away for the weekend” she smiled
“Oh so no booty call tonight” Alex pouted and I had to laugh
“Nope tonight she’s mine” I said with a giggle before running off.
Pauline and I spent the night exactly as we planned, doing nothing except watching chick flicks and eating bad food.
“So what’s happening with you and Oli?” Pauline asked cautiously as about to enter dangerous territory
“Nothing…im going out with Will” I replied trying to sound convinced with myself
“Hhhmmm if that’s what you want but don’t just keep this going out of spite Lacey” her words were confronting but the truth.
“Ok lets forget the seriousness I think I have marshmallows in the kitchen” she said getting up and running to grab them.
We spent the rest of the night watching movies and eating tones and tones of pop corn I think I must have put on like 10kg. But then what was a sleepover without the junk food. The bitching was also fun I got to let out all my anger over Sarita out and also got to vent about my family my mother in particular.
It wasn’t until around 3am that the pair of us fell asleep watching ‘Mean Girls’. Even though I had all my stuff in Pauline’s spare room I managed to crash on her single bed with her fighting for the quilt and suffocating each other with our pillows. It was just the night I needed to get everything and everyone out of my head.
