Let's Hear It for America's Pastime
"Five, Four, Three..."
The camera man silently mouthed the last two digets before giving me a thumbs-up. I smiled into the camera, hoping it wouldn't catch the way my arms were glued to my sides and my forehead was begining to sweat.
"Hey, I'm Patrick Stump, the singer and lead guitarist of Fall Out Boy. As you may or may not know, my best friend, Pete Wentz, just got married to Ashlee Simpson. This got me thinking..." I tried to sound casual, conversational, but I wasn't sure how well that was working out for me. The studio lights blinded me and the camera lense stared at me as if it were a bug disecting every move I made. I gulped and continued.
"I need love. Real love. And I'm about to find it."
"Aaaand cut! That was great Pat-" Ugh. He still calls me that? "-We'll do another take in a few minutes. Take five," the producer jabbered on aimlessly. I ignored him.
Instead, I readusted my favorite baseball cap and tried to calm my nerves.
I mean, come on. It was just a silly reality TV show.
