I'll Take You Out Though I'm Hardly Worth Your Time

I continue to walk around the school to look for the buses and I saw Jess running towards me.

“Ohmygod! Sash, have you read the board? You’re fucking paired with Alex!” she screamed

“No I am not. That’s just true on that board” I plainly said

“Huh? What do you mean? What says on the board is real. What? You don’t believe me? Let’s go, I’ll show you the proof” she said, grabbing my arm.

“No jess. Alex isn’t my partner. My pair is Jason”

“Nuh-uh” she said, shaking her head

“Uh-huh” I nodded. “I switched”

“What do you mean you switched? With who? Are you even allowed to do that?” she ranted

“Yes as a matter of fact I did. I changed with Katy. I guess she knew that I didn’t want to be with him that much so she offered and I accepted”

“WHAT?! Why? I mean you’re with Alex! I bet that Katy girl only did that because she wanted to be with Alex!”

”And I don’t really care Jess. We both benefit here. I get to be with a better and smarter person and Katy gets to be with Alex. Everyone wins. I don’t wanna be paired with Alex anyway” I finished

Jess stared at me

“I totally don’t understand you now. How can you not like to be pairs with THEAlex?” she asked

“Well, you don’t have to understand Jess. Just go with the flow. By the way, who’s yours?”

“Jack!” she squealed

“Oh, lucky you. At least you got a nice person. But, I must warm you, Jack needs help with his brain” I tell Jess, smiling

“He’s good enough. At least I know he’s nice enough to offer some help in case I needed it. He’s your friend so I know he’s not an ass”

“Of course. I don’t have a friend who’s an ass.” I laughed

“Everyone, get ready. The bus will be leaving in ten minutes” the teachers announce.

I thought about my partner. Does he even know that we were a pair now? Just in time, I saw Jason walking to me.

“Hey! I heard we’re partners now” he said “I am Jason by the way”

He’s not as bad looking as I thought. He was kinda cute. I am glad I made the switch.

I smiled “Yeah. Katy told you already?”

“Yah. I am glad you agreed with her. I was honestly hoping not to be paired with her” he whispered which made me laugh

“Thank Alex for that”

He chuckled “this is the first time I ever heard you laugh”

“Really?” I ask

“Yeah” he said looking down

“Do you think I am a snob?’ I ask him, remembering what Jess told me

He looked up and grinned

“I don’t think you do it on purpose but sometimes it’s frightening to come up to you. You have this intimidating vibe in you.” He muttered

“I bet deep inside, you’re really nice.” He added

This made me smile wider

“Really?” I ask again

“Yeah, sure” I could have sworn I saw him blush when he said that.
