I'll Take You Out Though I'm Hardly Worth Your Time

Our task today is to go up this mountain and then take pictures on top to serve as a proof that we made it to the top. Of course, as the teachers said, it will help us to have team work and cooperation. I just don’t get why they have to kill us to teach us cooperation and team work. This is definitely going to be hard. Hello, we’ll be climbing a fucking mountain for crying out loud.

“I don’t understand this at all” I mutter as me and Alex try to climb our way to the top. The ground was flat thirty minutes ago but now, it was going up already which makes it even harder.

“Me too but I am still doing it” Alex chuckled

“Yeahp. We’re still following even if we don’t get the whole point of this shit” I mumble

“We have no choice Sand—“

“Oh! A river!” I yelled and ran towards it.

I would really love to wash my face and feel fresh again. Honestly, I was already perspiring and tired from all the walking. I needed a break.

I scooped some water and washed my face and the back of my neck. The cool water felt so good.

“That is so refreshing” I said as I dried my face

I looked at Alex and saw him staring at me. What’s with his stare? It freaked me out for a bit.

“Alex? Are you okay?” I ask then I approach him

He seemed to snap out of it and shook his head

“Ah, ye—yeah. I was just—distracted” he stuttered

“I think you need water as well” I say as I touch his forehead. It was a little hot from the sun already.

He flinched a little and stepped back.

“Oh, yea—yeah. I—I’ll get some water” he quickly rushed to the river and washed his face

That was a weird behavior. He was acting normally just moments ago. I shrugged it off and continued drying my face.

“Let’s go?” he turned around and then faced me

“Yeahp. Let’s do this” I cheered

He laughed and led the way.

We walked for what seemed like forever. Using the watch as a reference, we walked for a total of four hours. I was tired as hell.

“I think I’ll faint any second now” I breathed as we walk

“Don’t! We’re here already!” Alex said happily

“We are?” I asked with so much hope

“Yeah. Can you see that white flag? That’s sign that we are on top already. Come on!” he said excitedly

I follow him and we finally reach the white flag he was pointing at a while ago

“YAY! We are finally here! Thank God!” I announced

“Want to take the proof picture?” he asked handing me the camera

“No, you can take it” I say as I sat down the grass and looked at the scenery. It was really a great sight.

“Here it is” Alex gave me the camera showing me the picture he took then he sat next to me

“That’s a good shot” I commented.

“Thanks”

“Can we stay here for a while to rest? I love the atmosphere here” I told him

“Okay. Whatever you want” he smiled

It felt so good that he smiled. It wasn’t as big as before, but at least he does smile to me already right? We just sat there in silence and absorbed the wonderful sight before our eyes. This was a great reward after five hours of climbing the mountain. It was more special because I was sharing this moment with Alex.

I missed the times wherein we just hung around and actually didn’t fight.
