I'll Take You Out Though I'm Hardly Worth Your Time

The trip down the mountain was less tiring then when we went up. It was actually more fun because both Alex and I were able to talk more.

We reach the teachers’ cabin then we handed our proof picture to them.

“The two of you are actually the first ones who got here. Good job! I am glad both of you are working well” Mrs. Wilson said

“Thanks” we both say

“The two of you are free for the rest of the day. You can do whatever you want. I wasn’t expecting anyone this early. I think you both deserve it. “She smiled at us

“Thank you Mrs. Wilson. That’s really nice of you” Alex told her and grabbed my arm

“Let’s go have some fun!” he whispered to me as we walk away

“Uh, how? There’s nothing interesting to do around here” I mutter

“We could think of something to do!” he announced happily

I liked seeing him like this. Okay, I may sound so repetitive but I just loved him all happy and fun. I really just missed the old Alex and I am starting to see the old him again.

“Hmm, how about let’s just go for a walk and see where that brings us?” he suggested

“Okay then. Whatever you want”

We started walking and I realize that he never removed his hold on my hand. I felt comfortable holding his hands now unlike before. I guess I got used to it already.

We stopped under a big tree. He sat down and since he was holding my hand, I was forced to sit as well.

“Well, isn’t this nice and comfy?” he smiled

“Yeah. This is so relaxing after the long climbing of a high mountain” I sigh as I lay down on the grass. It was so soft. He lay down beside me and we both look at the sky.

“I spy a rabbit” Alex randomly said

“Huh?” I ask

“There!” He pointed at a cloud which looked like it had bunny ears

“Oh! So you wanna play that huh? I have to warn you, I am a master in this game” I told him

“Oh yeah? Let’s see how good you are then” he laughed

“Whoever spots the most stuff wins!” I declared

“Fine! I’ll win this anyway!”

“I see a horse!” I yell

“Oh? Where? You have to show me because you might be inventing it!” he accused

“There!” I pointed and he followed my finger

“Oh shit. That looks like a horse. Why didn’t I see that?”

“HAH! One point for me!” I said happily

“Oh! There’s a heart right there!” he yelled in excitement

“Where? I must see because you might be inventing it” I said, copying what he told me

“There!” he pointed somewhere but I couldn’t see

“Where?” I ask trying to shield my eyes from the sunlight

He suddenly grabbed my hand and pointed my finger to that direction

“There!” he pointed using my hand

I was shocked by the sudden contact but luckily, I was able to kinda hide it.

“Oh, yea—yeah I see it” I lied.

I wasn’t really looking because I was too preoccupied with his hand holding mine.

“It’s a tie!” he chuckled

“The first one who finds another thing wins” I tell him

“All right!” he rubbed his hands together and his face was so determined

I giggle at this. He must have heard me because he faced me with a puzzled look

“What?” he asked innocently

“Nothing. You’re just so funny” I tell him realizing how close our faces were.

A part of me wanted to lean nearer and close the distance but of course, my mind was screaming, NO! I remembered how this guy beside me dated almost the whole female population of our school and I didn’t want to be like those girls. NO WAY. I automatically turned away and looked back to the sky.

He looked at me for a moment and then looked up as well.
