I'll Take You Out Though I'm Hardly Worth Your Time

I slowly walk through the corridors. I hated Mondays. I was still sleepy and I am a little tired about the whole camping thing last week. I yawn as I open my locker. I clumsily got my books and they fell straight to the floor. I groan as I realize what had happened and bended to pick it all up and then I see hands picking them up already and putting it on my hands.

I shot my head up to see who it was and predictably, I saw Alex.

“Trying to be a gentleman huh?’ I smile at him as I fixed the books he handed me

He gave me his crooked smile and shrugged.

“I told you I’ll so anything for you” he said

“I hope you don’t overdo it though” I mutter as I zipped my bag.

“Shall we walk to Calculus now?” he offered me his hand

“I don’t think so Gaskarth. If I hold your hand, people will start talking” I pointed out

“Oh, okay then. How about walking together?” he asked willfully

“Sure. Walking together isn’t bad” I say as we started to walk to our classroom

I still see girls shooting glares at me as we walk. This is exactly why I am afraid of being with Alex. Girls would loathe me to death and the worst part is, Alex never seems to notice all the gawking happening around him.

We finally enter the classroom and I was more than happy to be taking my seat already.

“So, I was thinking…” he muttered, facing me

“Hmm?” I ask as I fix my books

“Can you, uh, like, go on a date with me? Like a real one?” he asked softly

I snapped my head up with shock. He was asking me on a date?!

He blushed when I looked at him with wide eyes

“I am sorry if I scared you. It’s okay if you don’t want” he whispered

“No, it’s not that I don’t want. I was just taken off guard.” I laughed

“So, you want to go?” he suddenly beamed

“I don’t know. Maybe?” I said as I continued fixing my books

“Maybe?” he asked as if making sure if he heard it right

“Yes, maybe” I said, specifying on the word “maybe”

I bet he hasn’t received a “maybe” as answer in his entire dating life.

“Oh, okay then” he said slowly

“How can I make it into a “yes”?” he asked, smiling at me again.

I hated it when he smiled at me. It makes my brain function wrong.

“Uh” I say as I got lost in his smile

“O-only if there is cookies and cream ice cream involved?” I whispered as I look into his eyes. They were just amazing. Oh shit, I bet he’s working his charm on me at this moment.

“It’s a deal then” he smiled wider which made my heart melt.

Shit, where did the “I will not show him I like him” promise to myself go? I am so obvious now.

I was still thinking of a comeback for what he said but the teacher suddenly entered and I wasn’t able to say anything anymore. I didn’t bother because I didn’t know what to say anyway.
