I'll Take You Out Though I'm Hardly Worth Your Time

Chapter 70

I walk home by myself today. Ever since Jess became Jack’s boyfriend, he would always taker her home. I definitely have no problem with that. I’ll let them have their fun. It’s also nice that Jess finally got over her crush on Alex and no one stalks him through my window anymore.

As I walk to my house, I surprisingly see my mom’s car parked in the garage. My mom never comes home this early. That’s really unusual.

I enter the house and silently shut the door.

“Sandra? Is that you?”

“Uh, yeahp. You’re here early?” I ask my mom as I enter the kitchen

“Yes. I have a two day break. I thought that you needed company. I am so sorry honey. I’ve been too busy and it looks like you’ve been living by yourself with all my working and your father being out of the country” she said as she stirred something in the pot

“What’s that?” I ask her and sat on the counter

“Pasta. I know you love pasta” she smiled to me

“Aww, thanks mom. I don’t really mind. I like the feeling of being independent when I am here alone” I tell her and kissed her in the cheek

“Thanks for understanding Sash. You’re really mature for your age. Most teenagers would rebel and do drugs if their parents did what I am doing to you”

“Mom, I would never, ever try drugs in my entire life. It’s just so disgusting you know” I say with a revolted expression

“That’s good then” she laughed and continued stirring

“Want some help?” I offered

“Nope. You can go and rest. Let me do my job as a mother to you for once” she smiled to me

“MOM, don’t say that. You need to work for me”

“Well, yeah I guess but I know I lack in the taking care of you part of being a mother”

“When’s dad coming back anyway?” I ask, trying to change the subject. I hated it whenever my mom says that she isn’t a good mother to me. I mean, yes, she’s always at work but she does that for my future.

“Oh, uh, I am not really sure yet. Haven’t he called?” she asked

“No”

“Maybe soon honey. Don’t worry about him”

“Okay then. I’ll go up now. Call me when it’s time to eat!” I say happily

“Yes missy”

I enter my room with a smile on my face. I missed these times wherein I actually talk to someone when I get home. I am always alone and this is completely unusual. I love it.
I plopped on my bed and started to strum my guitar. I hear a knock on my door after a few minutes.

“Sandra?” I see my mom’s head pop from the door

“Yes? Is it time to eat?” I ask as I stand up and put my guitar on the couch

“Oh, no. You have a visitor. A boy named Alex?” my mom said with a mischievous smile

“Mom, what’s with the smile?” I sigh as I approach her

“Nothing. He seems really nice Sandra” she cheered as I went down the stairs

“Where is he?”

“Kitchen. You know I didn’t know that he was our neighbor”

“Well, he didn’t know I was his neighbor until this school year started”

“Really? That explains why he only came around now” she said playfully

Mom, what’s with you?” I ask, a little annoyed. She’s acting like Jess now

“Nothing. I invited him for dinner” she smiled so wide

“Huh? Why? You didn’t have to do that”

“I wanted to. He looks like a nice kid”

Woohhoo, I am in Chapter 70 already! This story became unexpectedly long... hmm, you think I should end it already? Well, this will surely have more chapters than my William Beckett story though, so don't worry! It's not gonna end yet.

Thanks for all the comments! I kinda feel like asking for 15 comments for this update though. I hope you can all give me that? THANKS!
