The soft roar of the engine lulled me to a comfortable state. I was dead to the world as we flew over an empty lifeless plain. My eyes fluttered open for a moment and I saw what was below me. A city, an angry city, masked by the twinkling lights and bustling streets. But I knew down in that city there were people with masked faces and lying eyes. I had grown up in a city much like the one blazing below me now. The city was full of empty promises and sly people. I never saw it that way, not while I lived there. Not until I experienced a new kind of life, a life that revolved around my Edward.
