Summer Camp,Girl,Hot Vampire, Gotta Be Trouble

Mikes POV.

I was done with the deer a little to soon,but my thirst was under control...at the moment. The faintest breeze blew through the forest and I could smell a fresh human scent. Without a second thought I knew who it was and it got me wondering.

Did she see anything? Then I had to think of the other possibilities. What if she did see something? What would I do? I couldn't possibly kill her. She had friends and family. People that would look for her if she went missing. Plus, I could never bring myself to kill her.

I walked back to camp at human speed just in case there was a stray hiker near by. I soon got to the stables and found a note saying that Cassie got sick and went back to her cabin. I could not fully believe that but somehow I knew I had to because I did not know if she saw anything or not.

The sun was very slowly getting lower in the sky but it seemed like each time it sunk lower the temperature would rise. My thirst was getting to me once again. This day was much hotter than any other California day it seemed much hotter. That deer did almost nothing for my thirst and I could already feel the signs of blood lust.

I decided to go hunting again before I encountered an unfortunate camper. I would go deeper into the woods as to not be seen as far away from the trail as possible. I started to walk almost casually to the forest edge. As soon as I was sure no one was around I ran for it. Quicker than a cobra strike I searched for a bigger deer or if my luck was good an irritated bear.

I wasn't far from the trail when I heard it. Someone screaming in the distance. My vampire senses was fully aware of the heavy breathing, the pumping of blood, and the beating heart of a human that suddenly drove me crazy. I tried to sink deeper into the forest. Willing myself away from it but it was to late. My thirst was out of control and I...was going for the kill.

Being under the influence of blood lust is like watching a bad movie starring yourself. No matter how many times you scream at the movie screen the actor always does what you don't want it to do.

That's how I felt when I saw Cassie in that clearing and then sprinting of in a run of what looked like rage but I wasn't sure. I was to far gone. I followed her, keeping up with her easily, as she found the trail. Then she stopped. I was not as conspicuous as I thought I was and my breathes were heavy.

She turned to me with fear but I already had her pinned to a tree. Fear was evident in her eyes and I knew what she was seeing. A red eyed monster. Her heart was beating faster than it was before but I could not control it now. She said my name, I think I wasn't sure, before I sunk my fangs into her throat.

She screamed one of those horror movie screams I never knew she could pull of but she soon got weaker and fainted. I soon got control of myself and let go of her retracting my fangs. Of all my years seeing Cassie lying on the forest floor almost lifeless I never felt more like a monster. I wiped any trace of blood off of her resisting the urge to strike again.

I ran as fast as I could out of the forest and to her cabin door. I could hear someone in the bathroom but at the same time new it was going to be a while. I sat Cassie down on her bed I presumed,it was the only one with a black comforter, and made sure she was ok. It looks like she just fainted from lack of blood so I let her sleep.

I slipped out of the cabin unseen and went to the main cabin for councilors. I needed to leave. Get some more blood in my system and some blood supplements to keep me from attacking at the scent of blood. I told the main councilor that there was a family emergency I needed to take care of immediately and that I would be back as soon as possible. I left a note for Cassie at the stables knowing she would go there for answers and left before she could wake up from her sleep.
