That Fragile Capricorn
Innocence
"Where did Jon and Spencer say they were going again?" Ryan asked Brendon as he emerged from the bathroom topless and hair drenched, fresh from the shower.
"Some Asian place with Pete." Brendon couldn't help but smile at Ryan's thin, fragile, and vulnerable body.
"How long?"
"Knowing Pete, all night."
Ryan grabbed a coke from the fridge and then sat down next to Brendon, who cuddled up next to him and put his head on Ryan's shoulder. The skin was silky under Brendon's cheek, thin and pale. Just the thought of the moment made Brendon's heart race, and once again he had to keep his breathing steady. Ryan on the other hand, was so used to the scene and Brendon being close to him, that he was barely - if at all - affected by it.
"Give me your hand." Brendon gentle demanded as he held out his.
Ryan turned his gaze from the TV to Brendon as he put his hand in his hand. Brendon carefully and genitally examined Ryan's hand, as if it was going to blank out from reality the moment he let go. The skin here also soft, thin, and pale. The fingers were long; but in a gentle way.
"You have long fingers." Brendon smiled softy as he compared his hand to Ryan's.
"Yea, I know." Ryan smiled back just as soft.
Brendon put his fingers in between Ryan's and closed his hand around his hand, sighing happily and a bit relieved. He let their hands fall onto Ryan's lap and closed his eyes. It was the first time in weeks that both were truly at peace.
"You like being close to people." Ryan said as more of a statement the question.
"Makes me feel safe." Brendon answered as he opened his eyes.
"Why me?" Ryan said after a minute of silence.
"I know you better then Jon or Spencer. I trust you" Brendon cooed as he squeezed Ryan's hand. "Hope it doesn't get on your nerves."
"I told you, I like being your teddy bear." Ryan replied with a soft chuckle. "I like that you can trust me."
"Good, 'cause if not, you'd still have to put up with me. And I'd drive you insane. And then you'd end up killing me with a hack saw and shoving my insides down the garbage disposal system and as they were tearing and squishing, you'd laugh." Brendon rambled a bit.
Ryan looked at him with a smirk. "I'd just chainsaw people." His eyes brightened as Brendon realized he'd stolen his words. And then went on to add, "But not you."
"I think you would." Brendon chuckled.
"You wanna bet?" Ryan challenged playfully.
"Believe it."
And with that, Ryan pinned Brendon down by his wrists, straddling him. Brendon looked up into Ryan's playful brown eyes and smiled, earning one back.
"What did I tell ya?" Brendon smirked.
"Your not dead, are you?" Ryan smirked back.
"I wonder what Jon and Spencer would say if they saw us in this position." Brendon pondered. "Just imagine the look they'd give us."
"Oh, sorry. You uncomfortable?" Ryan snapped back into reality, his brown eyes suddenly serious. "You want me to move?"
"Don't." Brendon spoke quickly. "This is like a whole new level of clingy, and I'm liking it. Just stay, please?"
Ryan looked down on Brendon, lost in his eyes and going over what Brendon had just said, carefully searching for a single word. The one word that would make him stay. Brendon on the other hand looked up and Ryan, trying to look innocent, grinning as he was captivated by Ryan's eyes. Praying that he would stay.
"Your begging." Ryan said as he found the on word he was searching for, 'please'.
"I-I am not." Brendon stuttered through a nervous chuckled.
"Yes you are. Your begging me to cling!" Ryan was almost amazed.
"Please?"
Ryan said nothing as he stood up, got off the couch and walked to his room. Brendon lay there, his eyes staring at the ceiling, wondering what he had said wrong. He closed his eyes as he felt them begin to sting with wet tears.
Yet, he just a quickly opened them as he felt something crawl on top of him, Ryan with a blanket. Ryan still didn't speak as he lay on top of Brendon with the blanket. He slightly repositioned himself and closed his eyes, allowing Brendon to cling. And slowly but surly, both fell asleep, Ryan on top of Brendon.
"Whoo! Sex on the couch!" Jon shouted as he entered to see Ryan on top of Brendon, under the blanket on the couch.
Ryan woke and groggily looked at Jon, who was hovering above him and Brendon with a speechless Spencer standing next to him. Bother were obviously wasted.
"What time is it?" Brendon mumbled from under Ryan, his eyes still closed.
"Four in the mourning." Spencer answered. "So, you guys finally lost it."
"What?" Ryan asked confused, and then went on as he realized what Spencer meant. "No. Why- not even - how could you even think that?!"
"Well, your on top of Brendon, under a blanket, on the couch." Jon spoke with a slight slur.
"For god sakes!" Brendon tried not to shout, "Did we not just have this conversation?!"
"There's a difference between clinging and separation anxiety." Spencer spoke up.
"Whatever. I'm going to bed." Ryan got off of the couch and went to leave.
"Ryan..." Brendon quietly whispered.
Brendon looked at Spencer and Jon, almost glaring. He knew they were wasted, that their words were false and couldn't be trusted. But he also knew just of close their words were to the truth.
