You Found Me

That night, after dinner, Tim offered to drive me home. In the car, he put on a mix of his favorite songs.
“Live Like You Were Dying…” I nodded, “Not bad.”
“Tim McGraw is a musical genius.” He said with a smile, keeping his eyes on the road, “The Beatles are pretty sweet too, though.”
“Oh, the Beatles!” I cried, “Don’t get me started on them! They’re my favorite! What’s your favorite song by them?”
Tim blushed, “Oh, I don’t know that many. My dad got me a bunch of their CD’s, and I’ve listened to a couple of the songs randomly. I don’t remember their names though. I mean, everyone knows Hey Jude, and Lucy in The Sky With Diamonds and Let it Be.”
I smiled, “Did you see that movie? Across the Universe?”
Tim thought for a minute, “That had that Evan Rachel Wood girl in it, right?”
I nodded, “Yeah.”
He shook his head, “No. But I want to. I like musicals.” He laughed, “Let me guess, the main characters names are Jude and Lucy.”
I gave him a funny look, “I thought you said you hadn’t seen the movie?”
He looked surprised, “Wait… they really are?”
I nodded, “Well, yeah. How did you know.”
He began to laugh hysterically.
“What’s so funny?” I asked, confused.
“Hey Jude and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. I meant it as a joke.” He snorted.
“OH!” I said. I laughed, “Oh, that’s funny! I never thought about that.”
He was still laughing, “I really had no idea what their names were. I was only making a joke.”
I smiled, “Some joke.” I giggled, “Can you read minds.”
He laughed, “No. It’d be cool if I could, though.”
“Yeah, it would.”
For the rest of the car ride, we talked about Tim McGraw’s musical genius.
“That’s my house.” I said, pointing.
“Okay.” He said as he turned into the driveway.
We sat in silence for a few seconds.
“Can I come in?” He asked suddenly.
I looked up, surprise, “Oh! Uh, sure. If you want.”
“I want to meet your parents. You know, so they know who you’re hanging out with and everything.”
I blushed, “Yeah, I guess that’s a good idea. My parents are really overprotective.”
“I don’t believe any parent is overprotective, they just care about their kids and do what’s best for them.”
I shrugged, “I guess so.”
I opened the door and began to climb out, “Aw, Winter!” Tim moaned.
I stopped, “What’s wrong?”
“You didn’t wait for me to open the door for you!”

Is this a dream?
If it is
Please don't wake me from this high
I'd become comfortably numb
Until you opened up my eyes
To what it's like
When everything's right
I can't believe

You found me
When no one else was lookin'
How did you know just where I would be?
Yeah, you broke through
All of my confusion
The ups and the downs
And you still didn't leave
I guess that you saw what nobody could see
You found me
You found me

So, here we are
That's pretty far
When you think of where we've been
No going back
I'm fading out
All that has faded me within
You're by my side
Now everything's fine
I can't believe

You found me
When no one else was lookin'
How did you know just where I would be?
Yeah, you broke through
All of my confusion
The ups and the downs
And you still didn't leave
I guess that you saw what nobody could see
You found me
You found me

And I was hiding
'Til you came along
And showed me where I belong
You found me
When no one else was lookin'
How did you know?
How did you know?
