Saving Anezmae

Ch. 10

For the next couple hours Adora stuffed in as much spells, and information about magic as she could into my brain. After my way-to-long session, Adora sent me to bed. At that I protested, “I’m not tired, see?” I jumped around, muscles aching every time my feet landed on the hardened ground. She giggled, “You silly girl, you’re going to be more sore tomorrow morning if you keep that up! Trust me I pilled in your wittle head weeks worth of lessons, go get some rest, tomorrow you’ll only be doing combat training.” I inwardly groaned, I defiantly didn’t want to deal with my other mentor, a menopausal boy, if you ask me, was all he was. “You you don’t go back over there and sleep young lady, I will use my magical powers to force you to sleep. Wouldn’t want that now do we?” I nodded my head no, and walked over to our make-shift camp site. I decided I would fool her into thinking I was asleep, and continue to work on my magic when she feel into her sleep. Laying down on the paper thin cotton sheet I rested my head on my arm, closing my eyes. Occasionally I opened them to see if Adora had finally passed out. I ended up doing this for several hours. I was so bored that I had begun to dream about fantasy worlds that were only in my head. In them I was back home with my mom, learning to defend myself and use magic on my own time, not someone else’s. eventually I began to doze, coming in and out of consciousness. It was around this time that I finally saw how the moon lightened Adora’s face showing her in a serene slumber. Somehow I managed to renew my energy sources, and bounced up, slowly tiptoeing my way past her, and into the forest. While exploring the area around me for a good place to “study” I heard a crack not to far away from me. Panic instantly gripped my heart. I knew I shouldn’t have left the clearing! What if it’s some rabid wolf, or some crazed lunatic set out to kill me? My heart was pounding so hard that it deafened me. The only things I could hear were my heart, my rapid shallow breaths, and the crunch of leaves as whatever, whoever inched their way closer to me, from behind. I finally found the courage to look behind me, and to my amazement it was nothing more than a deer. A sense of relief washed through my body allowing my once paralyzed body to move once again. With that came a sense of stupidity too, though. Man, I was scared out of my wits for what? A harmless deer! Stupid Melody! Stupid! I turned back around, I gotta finish what I set out to do, right? So I began to say my enchantments, first lighting the dark forest around me, and then practicing the spells I had learned. ---
Jared’s P.O.V.
I silenced my footsteps with a beginners spell, (unfortunately I did not have the magical capability of anything above that of an intermediate spell caster.) and watched Melody make her ingenious escape. Adora really is all too trusting. I followed her, watching in the shadows to see what kind of plan she was up to. When I made the mistake of un-focusing my spell and crunching on a leaf. I had hoped she would have been too ignorant and preoccupied on her plans that she wouldn’t notice me, but instead she froze in fear. I quickly refocused my spell, and darted into one of the tree branches concealing my identity. Luckily for me, a deer was not too far behind making it appear as if it had been the creature to make the noise. Also lucky for me, she was too naive to think it could have been anything else but the deer. Mistake number one, and one of the quickest ways to get one killed. This we will discuss in my first lesson with her. I was pulled out of my thoughts as I diligently watched her practice her craft. Ah, so she came out here to hone on her skills. Impressive, I would have never taken her to be that kind of person. After watching her for a couple hours, and after awhile of excitement creeping up in my veins, I jumped down onto the ground, a small brown cloud of dirt circling my leather shoes.

Melody’s P.O.V.
“Holy crap dude!” I clutched my chest. “you came out of nowhere! How could you scare me like that?!”
“We are going to start our first lesson, here, right now!” he grinned, stupidly, if you asked me. “What is with you people and ignoring me?!” I yelled. “Be quiet. First off, when a ‘predator’ is near by you don’t stand like a marble statue, it’ll get you killed! Stand in this stance!” he stood up tall, fists balled up near his face, his left leg jutted out bout lefts slightly bended. “it allows for quick movement, and defense.” he continued, excitedly. When I ignored him he urged me on, “Unless you want a beating like before I suggest you do as I say. You are my student, I am your master, you will listen to me. Do it now.” not wanting a bruised body, and busted lip, I did as he asked. He circled me once, twice, and then gave out a swift punch. Instinctively I blocked it. “Good!” he continued with the punches and the kicks, and when I managed to be able to block every single one, he muttered a spell that I had yet to learn. However, when the punches and the kicks became ten times faster and harder, I had learned the purpose of it. When I first fell to the ground I wanted to give up, he had kicked me in my gut and I had lost my breath. I looked up at him from the ground, there he stood his hand out waiting for me to take it. “Come on, we don’t have much time, and I have a lot I need to teach you.” so I gritted my teeth, took his hand and waited for the next instruction. “Bring your arms close to your face, keep your knees slightly crouched, use your whole body to aid your attacks, this allows for more strength. Bend your elbow and use your arm to push off your opponents leg. This causes their body to fall on their back. While he’s falling use other attacks to destroy him on the battlefield.” using himself and I to demonstrate, he showed me multiple ways to effectively hurt my opponent. Every time I was knocked to the ground he made me get up, and taught me ways to defend myself and how to counter attack. Time passed on by, so much that the sun began to rise in the east, illuminating the forest. Sweating, and panting I begged him for a break. “The only break you’ll get on the battlefield is death.” I swiped my forehead,
“We’ve been at this for hours!”
“Eight hours to be exact.” I felt my eyes begin to bulge.
“Now, Melody, you’ve been doing great, don’t start your childish antics again.” she took in a breath, fatigue nowhere written on his face. “Come at me, show me what I’ve taught you.” frustration began to creep into my veins, using that as my motivation I ran at him using what I’d learned. He dodged most of them fairly easily, smirking at me. “See why you need all the practice you can get?” I breathed in deeply, yes, I thought to myself; but I wouldn’t let him have the satisfaction of knowing I knew he was right. Instead I just held my head high, smiled and said, “Well, I think I’m doin’ purdy darn good, but if you think you got more to teach me, well, by all means, go ahead.” he smiled, liking my new attitude.
“No need to tell me twice.” he walked up to me,
“Well, for today I’ve taught you all that I will in defense, but don’t worry, I have plenty more to teach you, in every area. I’ll be nice to you, since you’re not acting quite like you’re usual bitchy self-” I scoffed at him, he cleared his throat, “as I said, I’ll be nice, go get a drink and some breakfast. Adora will have it ready for you. Once you’re done come back, I have several strength training exercises laid out for you.” walking rather sluggishly towards the camp, I met an incredibly energetic Adora, with a plateful of yummy food. At the sight of it, my stomach growled, rather loudly. “Here you go hunny! I know you’ve been out there for quite awhile.” with a great big smile plastered on her face she shoved the plate of food into my small hands. Happily I obliged, eating it all in T-10 seconds. Sighing contently after my meal, Adora looked at me with a fake smile and disgust burning in her eyes. “Now, go to the waterfall and take your bath. I already placed a towel and some new clothes for you to wear.” I nodded acknowledging her, “Oh, and don’t forget to wash them; I don’t are if it’s before, during or after your shower.” she handed me a bar of ‘special’ soap, which consisted of---I sighed. You’d think me being this future “queen” I wouldn’t have to wash clothes…ugh! I heard Adora softly giggle. “You’re hearing in on my thoughts aren’t you?!” she smiled innocently at me,
“Now, why would I go and do that?” I narrowed my eyes at her, huffed, turned and walked to the waterfall. I peeled off my outfit, and walked into the waterfall with them. I scrubbed the filth off of my body and my clothes. I let myself soak in the water a few minutes before getting out, and getting dressed. A few minutes later Adora met up with me at the campsite. She looked me up and down approvingly. “Nice to see you cleaned up,” I smiled a her and sat down on a red blanket. She joined he opposite side of me. “Today we’re going to learn about mind persuasion, flying, and protection spells, as well as deepening your knowledge of the other spells you know so they can be more effective, efficient, and deadly.” I looked at her funny, I wondered how many people I’d have to use these “deadly” spells on. However instead of asking her for an estimate, I simply nodded my head.

This is all I have written so far, I will finish it, but I have no time at the moment, and I can barely get on the computer anymore, and because of copywright fears if you want to read the rest of my "novel" you have to email me. I want to one day publish it so I'll be taking it off mibba completely..but because of people like Zaruba I'll email the rest to the fans of the story :]
