William Beckett is just shy of eighteen and a senior at Barrington High School. His girlfriend just dumped him, and he can't seem to get his hair to do what he wants it to. He feels incredibly worthless and alone.

Twenty-three-year old Gabe Saporta has his own agenda. He's the lead singer of a band from New Jersey and doesn't have to answer to anyone. Things are pretty good, except for the fact he's an irresponsible slob.

When Bill meets Gabe (in the park, of all places), he knows that something special just happened. Gabe just doesn't know it yet.
