Delilah

David and Goliath

I fell from my throne. A gopher usurped me. They gave me pills and a walking boot to ease the transitioning dynasties.

Right in the middle of a war too. A silent, underhanded war fought on the fields of insecurities and mistakes. The gopher has the upper hand though, I'll admit. I've always been too loud and honest.

I won a war once. It seems like eons ago. I got a pretty little ribbon and a blanket for my brave steed. It all seemed superfluous then, the ribbon and the blanket. I was too full of validation to need such things. Even as it was centuries ago, I remember what it felt like to win. To be the best, to be the first. To not have to hold my head up, but to have it held up for me.

But as you all know, ego's are like balloons. They float if you fill them up, but pop if you fill them up enough.

I would've liked to tie a string around my neck and float away.
