Recalling These Memories

009

“Hello I am Elysia.”

“I’m Pandora.”

“I’m Severin.”

“I’m Velie.”

“And I’m Kai.”

“And we’re Break the Night,” we chimed in unison.

“Listen to our new album The Fragile Minds, out now,” Kai smiled.

“So as a German band, why do you only record your songs in English?” Monica asked for our first question. We were all packed into a conference room in front of a camera to record our interview for a music website we hadn’t heard of before. Of course within the first half hour being there we had explored it and found that it was pretty respectable.

“Uh, most of our fans are in America because we started off covering blink-182 songs in English for fun and we actually put out a few singles a year ago that did really well,” Severin answered.

“We have a growing amount of fans in Germany, too,” Kai added. “We play a couple of shows just locally every year so we see how that fan base grows so quickly.”

“Is there going to be a new record in German for them to be looking forward to?” Monica asked.

“We’re going to get into the recording studio soon to record it actually! It’ll be fun to go back to singing in German but I know we’ll make time for the new album in both soon,” I responded.

“And, we’ll be touring Europe in a month’s time so all you French girls…” Kai paused for a dramatic affect and I rolled my eyes as Monica seemed genuinely interested. “Severin’s taken. But no further comments on that while I’m in his reach.”

“Well on that note, there are rumors going around about your band and Tokio Hotel after you all have been seen together a lot these days in Germany,” Monica started. We all exchanged apprehensive glances with each other, knowing where this would be heading. But on the other side of the camera Seth gave us a thumbs-up, giving us the okay to say anything we wanted on the subject. “Many of which have to do with Georg and Pandora dating. What’s true and what’s not?”

“Yeah those two are dating,” Kai answered. We laughed, finding his eagerness to discuss the topic amusing. After having to keep it a secret for a few weeks we knew he was happy to finally talk about it. “And Tom is dating our roadie Angie, not surprisingly to anyone who’s seen them. She’s ridiculously possessive of him, more than I think we’ve seen fans act. On top of that everyone knows Bill and Velie want to get into each other’s pants but they won’t admit it. So right now they’re ‘friends’.”

I narrowed my eyes at him but refrained from hurting him on camera.

“Well your bands are completely different so how does that work out? Do you plan on touring with them any time soon or is this just going to stay a friendship?” Monica inquired, easily changing the topic.

“Well most of the time we just make fun of them for being pop / rock while we’re totally violent,” Pandora smirked. It was true; we had started to have fun starting arguments for their music style for our own enjoyment. “It’s all in good fun but I’d say that there’s a bit of a healthy rivalry.”

“And on top of that it’s impossible to go anywhere with them,” Elysia sighed. “Just fans, fans, fans, upon fans whenever we turn around.”

“I do believe Pandora roared at a few poor fans when they kind of swarmed Georg and Tom while we were going to the cinema,” I mentioned.

“I was half asleep and they were too loud,” she defended. I laughed with Kai at the memory, finding her excuse to be true for all of us when it happened. If anything we were glad that she scared the obnoxious girls into silence. “They lived.”

“Now, may I ask: are you from Germany originally Pandora? You seem to have a different accent than the rest of your band mates, maybe British?” Monica asked, leaning back on her chair.

“Ah, I know! I sound like a German impersonating a Brit impersonating a Yank, don’t I?!” Pandora exclaimed. We all laughed and she waited until we were quiet to continue. “I was born in Germany but I lived in England with family for a while. So yeah, I learned most of my English there. It gets kind of hard to understand me, I know.”

“Especially since she’s partially insane…” Elysia sighed. Pandora glared at the side of her face but huffed before settling back down into her seat.

“Anyways, knowing that Elysia, Severin, and Kai are traditional German names; your fans wanted to know where Velie and Pandora come from.”

“Hah! I knew they’d ask that!” Kai barked. Elysia suddenly let out a short whine, digging into her pocket and giving him a handful of money. By the way that Kai began teasing her it was obvious that he’d just won a bet.

Halt die Fresse, du Wichser,” I chided. “My name’s actually Valeria. Velie’s just a nickname.”

“And it’s pronounced: Vee-lah, by the way,” Elysia added, staring at Monica pointedly.

“Pandora was the first woman on earth along with all of the events with the box and such. I’ve got a brother named Prometheus,” Pandora explained.

“I see that you know a lot about that,” Monica smiled. The smile Pandora gave her was blatantly fake, making Severin snort with suppressed laughter. The rest of us kept our snide comments to a bare whisper, amused that we could easy converse in German in front of the clueless girl. “Well that’s all the questions I have so if you would, say good bye to your fans and we’ll wrap this up!”

“Auf Wiedersehen!”
