I Only See You

First Love

Quiet overcame them after Nick's confession. Their eyes were locked on one another, a pool of hazel staring into deep, dark ones. Nick's heart was beating fast waiting for Cecilia's respond to his last sentence. I've met someone and I think sme might be the one for me.

Nick couldn't help but think if he had scared her away. He thought it was too soon but he couldn't help but say it. He was sure. At that moment, he became absolutely and definately sure that he had fallen in love with the girl beside him.

"Cecilia, I'm sorry if I scared you," Nick broke the silence and held her hand in between his two. "I just---"

Cecilia made Nick quiet by touching his cheek. She softly ran her thumb over his cold skin. "Nicholas, you don't want to be with me. I have absolutely nothing and life with me would be nothing compared to the life you would have with Julia. She's lovely and you're lovely and you're meant for each other."

"A life without you would be no life at all," Nick said softly as he put his hand over the Cecilia's hand on his cheek. "I do want to be with you. I know I'm young but this I am absolutely sure of. You've heard of love at first sight right? I never believed in it before but right when I saw you I knew I fell in love. It didn't even matter the way you were dressed, I fell in love with you. I didn't even have to know your name or anything about you. I just knew that it is you that I want to give my heart to and I'm hoping you will take it gladly."

With every word, Cecilia's heart raced and wanted to jump out of her body. His words terrified her as he gave his heart and soul and everything he had to convince her to let him in. She was absolutely petrified so she did what she thought was best. She ran.

Quickly and swiftly, she stood up, managed to get Nick's jacket off and ran the opposite direction leaving Nick confused and yelling her name. But Cecilia kept going. She lifted her dress up slightly so she wouldn't trip and ran away from the man shefell in love with.

No, I can't be in love with him, Cecilia said to herself as she ran. The cold air whipped her face almost bringing tears to her eyes. He deserves so much more than me.

She ran down the stairs to the lower level and ran straight to her room. She slammed it shut and leaned her back against it, falling to the ground, and catching her breath. Her temperature was slowly going up to its usual heat and she wrapped her arms around herself.

Cecilia was afraid of love. Simply put, she was just terrified. Although she had never been close to ever falling in love she imagined herself falling for a guy who was poor like herself. Never a man who had more money than all of the people she has ever met. And he had fallen for her and she knew it could never be. Not only will his family turn her down, she would never fit in.

"Cecilia, please, open the door," Nick softly knocked on the door. "I know you're in there."

She contemplated if she should open the door or not. Every time she saw his face, she managed to fall in love with Nicholas Jonas even more, if that were possible. "Please, open the door," Nick's soft voice pleaded. He slowly sank to the ground and leaned his back against the door. He bent his knee and leaned his elbow against his knee.

I blew it, he said. I shouldn't have done that. Now she will never speak to me again. His mind raced but was quickly cut off when he fell flat in his back as the support behind him was pulled away. He grunted at the impact and felt the slight pain.

"Oh my gosh, I am so sorry," Cecilia bent down to the floor and slowly helped Nick up. "Are you okay?"

"It's alright," he assured her as he got on his feet. He dusted himself off and turned his attention back to Cecilia. "Cecilia, I really am sorry. I shouldn't have said what I said. I scared you away and that was the last thing I ever wanted to do."

"I shouldn't have ran away from you," Cecilia sighed. "That was the most horrible way to handle the situation and I didn't mean to hurt you."

Nick pressed his lips into a thin line and looked down to the ground. "You didn't hurt me. Maybe disappointed me a little but don't think that you hurt me in any way at all. If anything, I hurt you. I wasn't thinking at all. Just when you told me not to throw everything away, I end up doing it. I'm sorry that I surprised you or scared you. But I will not apologize for what I said. I love you. I really do. And even though you don't feel the same way, I'm willing to wait."

"What about Julia?" Cecilia whispered feeling guilt build up in her stomach. Nick slowly reached out for the small girl, wrapping an arm around her waist and pulling her closer.

"I don't love her," he sighed as she hesitantly moved closer. "I only love you."

Nick put one hand in her hair and gently ran his fingers through them, taking out any tangles that were caught. His hand then travelled from her hair to her neck, up to her jawline and stopped at her chin. He lifted her head up slightly to make her eyes look up at his.

Slowly but surely, he leaned down and his eyes went up to her eyes and down to her lips almost asking for permission to kiss her. She nodded nervously and Nick touched Cecilia's lips with his own, causing definite sparks between the rich man and the poor girl.

Hesitantly, Nick moved his lips against Cecilia's and titled his head for more contact. The kiss never went further than just lips moving in a synchronized fashion. Nick held her close in fear of her slipping away from the position he wanted her in. In his arms.

Cecilia slowly pulled away but stayed in Nick's strong arms. During the kiss, her hands had traveled up to Nick's well coifed hair and played with the dark curls. Nick's face held a beautiful and genuine smile as his eyes were closed, cherishing the moment.

"Goodnight, my Cecilia," he softly whispered and leaned down for a quick kiss. "Can I see you again tomorrow?"

She nodded in response and brought another breathtaking smile onto Nick's beautiful face. He reluctantly let go of her and headed to the door. He waved goodbye and closed the door behind him leaving Cecilia in her quiet room in the lower levels of the ship.

"Shit," Cecilia silently cursed herself. "What have I gotten myself into?"
