I Finally Got Adopted..Dang

We Must Reinvent Love

“Marley, can we talk?” Derek asked me that next Tuesday. I was putting my books in my locker, getting ready to leave.

“Well I don’t know I might not take things seriously. Or I might get into fights with people.” I said, slamming my locker shut and walking away. Derek caught up to me easily.

“Marley, don’t be like that. We’re going to have to talk sooner or later.” He did have a good point, might as well get this talk over with.

“Go ahead and talk,” we were by my car now. I leaned on it, crossing my arms.

“I am so sorry. I was such a jerk to you. I was being stupid about the whole thing and I just got mad.”

“You’re right, you were a jerk. But I forgive you. And I’m sorry too.” Derek let out a sigh of relief. He came closer to me, grabbed me, and squeezed me as tight as he could. He then kissed me on the lips. Derek was about to walk away when I grabbed his wrist. “Hey Derek, you’re not jealous of Eli, are you?”

“Yeah, I kind of am. I just see you guys getting closer and closer.” Derek whispered sheepishly.

“Derek, you have nothing to be jealous of. Eli and I are just friends.” He nodded but didn’t say anything.

“I broke up with her,” Eli stated when I got home, barging into my room.

“Hello Eli, my day was fine, how was yours?” He just ignored me and looked at me expectantly. “How come you broke up with her?”

Eli shrugged his shoulders, “She’s a bitch, acting all psycho like that.”

“Eli, you didn’t have to break up with her because she yelled at me,” I whispered.

“I didn’t, please, you’re not that special,” I smacked him; “I never really liked her anyways.”

“Then why did you date her?” Eli didn’t say anything, he just smirked. “You’re gross!” I yelled at him, he just laughed. “Did she cry?” I asked him.

Eli nodded, “Yeah, as soon as I looked at her, she started bawling her eyes out. When I finally told her I was breaking up with her, there was even more tears. She kept saying she loved me and that she couldn’t live without me.” He said, snickering. I immediately felt bad for Megan.

“Eli, that’s mean. She obviously had real feelings for you.”

Eli just shrugged his shoulders, “I don’t really care.”

“Well someone’s an inconsiderate jerk.”

“Well this someone doesn’t care.” He sang; I just shook my head.
