I Finally Got Adopted..Dang

Bonding

“This is volleyball tryouts” Malibu Barbie continued.

“Oh my god, are you serious?” I said trying to mimic her; “I totally know that.”

“So then what are you doing in here?”

“What does it look like? To tryout for the team” I told her, like I was talking to a five year old.

“You play volleyball?!” She screeched.

“Yeah, I do; since the fifth grade. Got a problem?” she looked like she was about to say something, but then thought better of it. Yeah, that’s right, skank.

“Alright ladies! Let’s get started!” yelled Coach Broadway.

Apparently Megan and I, aka Skankface, played the same position; outside hitter. As much as I hated to admit it, she was good. I could see Broadway making us play together, which sucks.

“Good practice ladies! Same time tomorrow!” Broadway yelled after about three hours.

I rushed home; I needed about an hour shower. As soon as I got in the door, someone whistled; someone yelled damn, probably Eli.

“Don’t you guys have your own houses?” I asked, turning to Alex and his friends.

“Yeah, but Alex’s, I mean your guys house is so much cooler.” John told me matter-of-factly.

“Whatever.” I ran upstairs to the shower. Afterwards, I put on sweats and a big tee. I needed to call Jess still, so I yelled at Alex.

“Alex! Im using your room to call someone. Thanks!” I heard a muffled answer; I took it as a yes.

Jess answered after about five rings. I told her everything; about Alex; his friends that always seemed to be at the house, Kristin and Sarah, Jason and Derek. After I hung up with her, I was depressed; I missed her. I sat in Alex’s room for a while before he interrupted me.

“Are you done in here or what?”

“Oh, yeah. Sorry.” I said quietly.

“Are you okay?”

“Yeah, I'm fine.” I slipped out of his room before he could say anything else.

I walked to the music room that Mackenzie showed me when I first moved in. I went straight to the black baby grand; it was beautiful. I always played the piano when I was sad; I preferred my guitar when I was in a good mood. I loved both instruments, but I felt I could express myself better when I was playing a piano. I don’t know how long I sat there playing before I realized someone was in the room with me.

“You’re really good.”

“Thanks Jeremy.” He moved from across the room to sit by me on the piano bench.

“How long have you been playing?”

“Since I was three.”

“I thought you played the guitar.”

“I do; my mom played the piano, so she taught me how to play.”

“That’s cool.” I turned to look at him; it was silent for a few minuets. Jeremy wasn’t my type; but he was cute. His straight blond hair seemed to always be in his dark green eyes. His body wasn’t too bad either; he had to be at least 6’4 and he was built. But he was a jock; I didn’t really like jocks.

“What do you want to be when you grow up?” he asked suddenly.

“What? Are you saying I'm not grown up?”

“What do you want to be when you grow up?” he repeated

“I want to be a musician. Either be in a band or compose music for bands or something that has to do with music.”

“You should be; you’re really good.”

“What do you want to be?”

“I really don’t know.” He said, troubled. I was about to ask him what he liked to do when Eli, Alex and John came bursting in.

“Dude what the heck? Jeremy lets go. Were all going swimming. Marley you can come too.” Alex said, adding that I could go to at the last second.

“Alright. Be there in a second.” I sat there for a moment after they left. I was thinking about how I missed everyone; my mom and dad, Jess; my second family. I got up; went to my room and quickly put on black two piece. I grabbed my Ray Bans and a towel then went outside.

The boys were already in the pool; I didn’t want to get in yet so I lay down on a pool chair.

“You know that when you swim, you’re supposed to be in the water?” John yelled.

I looked up at him, “Yeah, I'm not stupid.”

“Well then get in the water.” Alex said.

“Don’t tell me what to do.”

“Whatever.” He tried to say under his breath; he didn’t succeed.

I was about to drift off to sleep when I felt water drip on me. “Is it raining?” I yelled; not opening my eyes to look.

“Nope” someone said, rather loudly, like they were standing right next to me. Eli; he was probably smirking. I finally opened my eyes to look at him. He was standing right above me; and he wasn’t smirking; he was grinning evilly.

“What are you doing?”

He glanced at the pool, then back at me. “Nothing” he said innocently. I quickly guessed what he was going to do.

“Eli don’t you dare.”

“Don’t tell me what to.” He mocked me. Then before I could even blink, he was holding me bridal style. He was strong; as much as I thrashed, he held on to me.

“Eli don’t! Please!”

He shook his head. “Well, since you said please.” That’s when he threw me into the pool.

When I came up, everyone was laughing. Eli was laughing so hard he was on the ground. When he finally stopped laughing, he looked at me and burst out laughing again.

“What now?” I growled at him.

“Your eyeliner is all runny; you look like crap.” He said between laughs.

I wiped my hand under my eyes; sure enough, there was black. “Well, you like crap all the time, so what’s your excuse? You get thrown into a pool everyday?” I said smirking. He quickly stopped laughing; while everyone else laughed harder. Jeremy gave me a high-five.

I got out of the pool and dried off.

“You have a tattoo?” John asked, pointing to the star on my lower hip.

“Huh? Oh, yeah. I got it a few months ago. Well, later guys, I'm going inside.”

The next day at school was a B day. I liked all of my classes; they were basically my electives, and Derek, Jason, Kristin and Sarah were in most of them. Unfortunately, Eli and all of them were in most of them too. When I first saw Eli, I asked if he was thrown into a pool. He glared at me, but didn’t say anything.

“What is that about?” Derek asked me. I told him; he couldn’t stop laughing. The day passed by quickly. Volleyball was the same as the day before; skank kept sending death stares my way, I just grinned every time.

“Hey Alex, where’s Mackenzie and James?” I asked after volleyball; I hadn’t seen them in a while.

“Their never home. You get used to it.” He replied harshly.

“Why are they never home?” I went and sat next to him; he was playing some video game.

“Their always going to some thing. They basically come home to sleep and make sure I haven’t destroyed the house.” I sat there thinking that over. Is that another reason why they adopted me? So Alex wasn’t alone all the time? And his friends, they were over here all the time too.

“You want toplay?”

“Um, sure. Ive never played this game before.” We played for over an hour; somehow I ended up beating him. I don’t know how; I just pressed buttons.

“This was fun Alex.” I turned to look at him.

“Yeah, it was.” He was grinning. I think we just bonded.
