Put my Heart on Your Sleeve and Wear it All Over Town

You Should Have Seen Your Face

"Gaby?"

"What?"

"I think someone is in the apartment."

"What? Why would you say that?" I asked as I turn to face Sydney.

We had been watching a movie in my room and I had fell asleep.

"Because I could swear that I heard someone walking around..."

"Go beat 'em up then. I gotta stay here with my kids." I replied, still
half-asleep, as I pulled the blankets up to my chin.

"Go with me."

"No, definitely not."

"Please?"

"Ugh. Fine." I pulled the blanket off and walked over to the closet that had
John's baseball bat in it. "Let's go." Sydney followed ma out the door, slowly,
toward the front of the apartment. I heard someone in the kitchen so I lifted
the bat and walked forward. I brought the bat down and started swinging. "Die,
die, die!" I said as I swung again and again.

"Ow! Damn!" There were some feet running toward the back of the kitchen.

"Stop! Stop, Gaby!" I stopped swinging and let the bat drop to the floor and out
of my hands. I'd recognize that voice anywhere.

"John?"

"What's left of me..." Sydney turned on the lights and I saw Kennedy hiding
behind the refrigerator and John squatting down with his arms up over his head.
Sydney busted out in laughter so, automatically, I joined her.

"What's so funny?"

"Your... faces!" I managed to get out between my giggles. Kennedy came out from
behind the fridge door with a huge smile on his face and John straightened out.
Sydney ran over to Kennedy and hugged him hard. I closed the short distance
between John and me, and walked into his outstretched arms.

"I missed you... So much."

"I missed you too.: He lifted my chin up so I could see his face, and he placed
a gentle kiss on my lips.

"I thought you guys wouldn't be in town for another couple days."

"Our show got canceled and we had tomorrow off, so we decided to come home
early."

"I'm glad you did."

"Me too." I looked over his shoulder at Sydney and Kenny, who were hardcore
making out, and let a giggle escape my mouth. Then I became serious again and
grabbed John's hand, pulling him toward the back of the apartment. He followed
behind me and closed the door to our bedroom. His impatient lips cut me off in
the middle of my saying, "Welcome home..."

"Good morning." I heard his say as I stretched while trying to wake up. I looked
up and he was holding Johnathan.

"He woke up and I didn't want you or Lily to be woken up." He said, answering my
unspoken question.

"Oh, alright." I let out a yawn and got up and slid on my robe.

"Where you going?"

"To make breakfast."

"What're you making?"

"Pancakes."

I walked down the hall, hurrying when I was passing Kenny and Sydney's opened
bedroom door, to the kitchen. Pulled out all my supplies and turned on the
stove.

"Mmm! Pancakes!" Sydney asked as she walked into the kitchen, in her
robe, and Kennedy followed.

"Yep. I assume you want the usual?"

"Yes, please. I love chocolate chip pancakes almost as much I love when
Kennedy-"

Hup! Don't want to hear it, really."

She giggled and Kennedy turned away laughing.

"Kenny, what do you want?"

"Doesn't matter."

I scooped up some pancakes off the skillet and slid them on his plate. "Thanks."

"You're very welcome. Syd, can you get the twins? They're probably hungry."

"Yeah sure." She walked toward the back of the apartment. And came back holding
Lily.

"You can put her in her highchair. Where's-"

"I'm working on it. I can't get of them at once."

I smiled, "Thanks." The phone rang and I was about up to my elbows in Bisquick
so Kennedy put down his fork and answered the phone.

"Hello?" Silence. "Uh, yes. Hold on." He pulled the phone away from his ear and
cupped his hand over the mouth piece. "Its for you..."

"Who is it?"

"Your mom." I stared in astonishment at the phone. I took it slowly from his
hands.

"Hello...?"

:) I really like this one. I thought it was funny, in the beginning that is.
