Status: After three years of not being active on Mibba, I want to come back and write again. I hope you all will love it. Right now school is pretty crazy and I'm having horrible writer's block (who wouldn't after three years?), but hopefully more will be up soon! Thanks for the support!

Cassie
One by one, we listened to my students’ poems. Some of them were the meaning of gay, an excuse to get some credit, but for the most part they were all good. The last student to go was Cassie. She was a little shy in the classroom. My guess is that she was mature beyond her age for all the nonsense that happens in my class.
“Okay Cassie, let’s hear what you’ve got.” I smiled. She was secretly my favorite student, hands down. We weren’t supposed to have favorites, but it’s inevitable.
“Um, Mandabach,” she said in her thick, British accent, “ Actually, mine’s a song.” she said, looking a little awkward. I nodded and told her to get her stuff ready. She walked to the front of the room and sat on the stool. As she adjusted herself, she cleared her throat and ran her hand through her blonde hair. It must be a british thing.
“The question asked in order
To save her life or take it
The answer no to avoid death
The answer yes would make it.” she began to sing, in a melodic voice with her guitar.
“Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
Say yes to pull the trigger
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
And Cassie pulled the trigger
All heads are bowed in silence
To remember her last sentence
She answered him knowing what would happen
Her last words still hanging in the air
In the air
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
Say yes to pull the trigger
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
And Cassie pulled the trigger
How many will die
I will die
I, I will say yes
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
Say yes to pull the trigger
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
And Cassie pulled the trigger
Do you believe in God
Do you believe in God
Do you believe in God
And I will pull the trigger.”
Her voice rang over her guitar as we sat there in awe. I applauded and soon the class followed.
“Excellent!” I told her, as she smiled awkwardly.
“Thanks.” she said, biting her lip. The bell rang, letting out twenty three kids. The last one was still packing up her stuff.
“That was amazing, Cassie. You should write more stuff and share with us.” I said.
“I have more material, I just don’t want to share them with the class.” she responded. She eyed Robert, and zipped up her things.
“When did you come here from London?” Rob asked her. She gave him a confused look.
“I didn’t say I ever did.” she spat out.
“With your accent you must have, because there’s no way you can get that authentic here.”
“About six months ago.” she said, “I miss London.”
“Me too.” Rob sighed. There was a silence that made me feel awkward. They were remembering somewhere they loved, and I had no idea what they were talking about.
“I’m Robert.” he said, sticking his hand out.
“Ello, love.” she smiled. He smiled as well.
“It feels good to speak with another brit.” Rob stated.
“I know, right?” Cassie said, “ All these wankers here are so annoying.” she grabbed her guitar and backpack and headed towards the door.
“Well I should probably be getting to my next class. Bye Mandabach. It was nice meeting you Rob.”
“You too.” he said. When she was out the door, Rob took off his sunglasses and looked more relaxed in the chair.
“I like her.” he said.
“Just ‘cause she’s like you.” I smiled. He shrugged, “Yeah, that too. It was nice having a little piece of home for a moment.”
“Rob, you just got back from London.” I said.
“Yeah, but I still miss it. The smell, the rain.”
“It rains a lot here!” I said. He rolled his eyes.
“It’s not the same.” Rob said, “You would know if you hadn’t been here all your life.”
“True.” I said. All of a sudden, I was slightly jealous. I’ve never been outside the state of Oregon. It got quiet as I sat at my desk and began sorting through papers.
“How was your trip?” I asked.
“Long and boring.”
“You just said you missed it.” I said, confused.
“ I do, yes, but I hate the plane ride.” he giggled.
“Oh yeah. I forgot all that water.” I said. It mad me sound like an idiot. Great.
“But, it was great seeing my Mum again.” he smiled, “I’ve missed her more than I thought. Seeing her put me in a better mood. I was nice to the ‘razzi. How have you been holding up?”
“I’m okay.”
“How’s Austin?” he asked. I sighed out heavily.
“Let’s just say, that chapter is closed.”
“What, just like that?” he asked.
“They gave me papers to sign to take him off of life support.” I said.
“Did you sign them?” he asked.
“Not yet.” I replied. There was a moment of silence.
“Yet, as in you are going to?” Rob asked, “You can’t do that. That’s like killing him.”
“Rob, I don’t wanna hear it okay? I haven’t made up my mind about it.”
“You want him dead then?”
“No. I just don’t want him to suffer.” I said. There was another silence and this one held for a while.
“You wanna go out on Wednesday?”
“I can’t, I have orchestra practice.” I told him. He smiled.
“Oh, ok.”
“But maybe another day?” I asked. He nodded.
“With you? Any day.” Rob giggled, “But I have some interviews to deal with this week. I really don’t want to. They all ask me the same questions.”
“Well, at least you can rehearse.” I said. He shrugged and nodded his head.
“I like the way you think.” he winked.
“Well I have prep the rest of the day. Wanna grab something to eat.” I asked.
“No, I wanna grab something to suck.” he said. My mouth fell to the floor as we exchanged glances.
“I was referring to me playing a vampire.” he explained.
“Uh huh.” I said, “Sure.” I smiled. When we got to the diner, where we weren’t bothered for once, we ordered our meals.
“Hey Rob.” I said. He looked at me, “I can read every mind in this room, apart from yours.” I laughed.
“Shut up.” he said, nudging my arm.
“Hey, you can’t touch a lady like that!” I exclaimed.
“You didn’t seem to mind when it was pleasing you.” he shot back. Oo, he was good and he knew it.
“Shut up. We don’t speak of that.” I playfully said. Another awkward silence.
“Uh, how have you been lately, Rob?” I asked.
“Fantastic.” he replied, smiling Edward’s crooked smile, “So I was wondering if you’re allowed to mingle with your students?”
“Depends on what we’re mingling in.” I said, “Why?”
“There’s an open mic night at this place I know, all ages. I think Cassie would like playing her music there.” Rob answered.
“Yeah, she would, wouldn’t she?” I said, thinking about that.
“Okay Cassie, let’s hear what you’ve got.” I smiled. She was secretly my favorite student, hands down. We weren’t supposed to have favorites, but it’s inevitable.
