Take Me as I Am

No More Secrets

Summer was standing in the locker room, finishing the last interview for the day. She turned around and saw Patrick standing there, leaning against a wall with his arms crossed. “So, we didn’t sleep together because you were upset?” he questioned.

Summer looked at him with a confused expression on her face. “What are you talking about?”

“You wanted to sleep with me,” he said with a smirk on his face.

“Pat, you know I was screwed up that night,” she told him.

“According to Olivia, you weren’t as screwed up as you’d like me to believe. But instead, it was your plan all along to sleep with me,” he told her. Then, he came up and whispered in her ear. “Just so you know, next time, all you have to do is ask. You don’t have to pretend to be upset.”

“Next time?” Summer yelled, outraged. “Il ne sera jamais une prochaine fois!" she yelled as she stormed off towards the lockers.

“There won’t be a next time for what?” Jonathan asked when he saw Summer, having overheard her yelling at Patrick.

Summer ignored her question and went straight to Olivia. “How the hell could you do this to me?” she screamed.

“What are you talking about?” Olivia asked.

“You told him!”

“What?”

“You told Pat! You told him that I wanted to sleep with him.”

“Sum, I didn’t tell Pat,” Olivia told her.

“Then how did he find out?” Summer questioned, anger pulsating through her veins. “He didn’t just guess. You told him.”

“Summer, I didn’t tell him,” Olivia insisted. “But, I did tell Jon,” she admitted.

“You what!?”

“I’m sorry!” Olivia apologized. “I was just talking, and it just slipped out.”

“It just slipped out?” Summer questioned. “And did Jon tell Pat?” she asked looking over at Jonathan who was tying up his shoes.

“I didn’t tell him,” Jonathan insisted. “Liv told me not to tell anyone, so I didn’t.”

“Then how did he find out?” Summer yelled.

“Maybe he overheard?” Olivia suggested.

“How could he have overheard?” Summer screamed, getting angrier by the second. “Please, tell me you didn’t say anything in the locker room."

“It was before the rest of the team got in here,” Olivia told her.

“Obviously not,” Summer yelled. “Because Pat now knows!”

“I’m sorry,” Olivia repeated. “Like I said, it just slipped out.”

“Oh, well since you’re just letting secrets slip out, did you tell Jon your big secret?” Summer asked Olivia.

“Summer!” Olivia yelled, her eyes going wide, as Jonathan looked over at Summer.

“What secret?” Jonathan asked.

“Oh, well, why don’t you tell your boyfriend your big secret?” Summer asked.

“Summer, please, just stop. I’m sorry that Pat found out, but please, be quiet,” Olivia pleaded.

“No, Liv. I think we need to let all the secrets out.”

“Sum,” Olivia tried one last time.

“Jon, since Liv seems to only want to spill other people’s secrets, let me be the one to tell you. Do you know who Liv’s biological father is?” Summer asked.

Jonathan looked at Olivia, who was on the verge of tears, and then over at Summer. “She told me he was a pro hockey player, but that I probably hadn’t heard of him,” Jonathan told her. “I don’t get what any of this has to do with anything.”

“Well, Liv lied to you,” Summer announced.

“Summer, please,” Olivia pleaded one last time, but Summer ignored her.

“You know who he is. In fact, you have a pretty close relationship with him,” Summer continued.

Jonathan looked over at her with a confused expression. “Huh?”

“Summer,” Olivia yelled.

“Liv’s biological father is your coach,” Summer revealed.

“What?” Jonathan asked.

“Yep,” Summer insisted. “Liv’s father is Alex Sokolov,” she said with a smirk. She then turned to Olivia and said, “We wouldn’t want to keep any secrets, would we?”

“You lied to me?” Jonathan asked as tears began rolling down Olivia’s cheeks.

“I’m sorry,” Olivia told him.

“Why would you lie to me?”

“Jon, I didn’t want anyone to know who my father was,” Olivia told him. “He doesn’t even know that I’m his daughter.”

“Did you take this job just to be around him?” Jonathan asked.

“No, I took this job because I’m good at it. Being around him had nothing to do with it. I wanted to do something good in hockey, make a name for myself, and then let him know that I didn’t need him to be successful in hockey.”

“And what better way to do that than to date the team captain?” Jonathan asked, jumping to conclusions.

“No, Jonathan, you had nothing to do with it.”

“Then why didn’t you tell me?” he asked.

“I’m sorry,” Olivia apologized. “I don’t know.”

“You’re lying,” Jonathan told her. “God, I can’t even look at you right now,” he said grabbing his bag and leaving the locker room.

Olivia turned around to Summer who was just standing there watching the whole scene unfold. “Are you happy now?” she asked.
