Why Does The Dream End?

Number 7

Megan's POV

We then walked out of the aquarium and got our hands stamped because we told them we were coming back. I led them to the small cafe down the road that was similar to Jesse's. We went inside and sat in a booth in the corner. There were only a few other people in there and none paid us any attention. A waiter came over and asked us what we wanted. We all ordered a sandwich of some sort and a drink and the waiter nodded and went off. I was sitting next to Joe and I couldn’t help but want to move nearer to him. He held my hand under the table and when I looked up at him he was smiling at me. I smiled back and looked away. The waiter brought us our food and while we ate the boys talked and I couldn’t help but laugh at them. They always made fun of each other in a brotherly way.

After we'd eaten, we went back to the aquarium and were let straight in. Nick and Kevin disappeared again and I was left on my own with Joe. We walked round, looking in the tanks occasionally. We were hand in hand the whole afternoon. We left the aquarium and sat on the wall outside. The aquarium was right on the sea so we looked out across the water. "Thank you," Joe said softly after a while. I turned to him and saw that he was already looking at me.
"For what?" I asked and he smiled.
"You're..." he paused and looked away. "This is going to sound weird, but you're so normal. You don’t treat us like The Jonas Brothers, you treat us like normal people. Not many people do that. Especially people we only just met." I smiled at him.
"I figured that if I was screaming around you all the time like everyone else, you wouldn’t want to be with me..." I trailed off as I heard what I was saying. Joe turned to me and smiled.
"I would want to be with you, I would just wear ear plugs," he said and I smiled. He leant forward and kissed me tenderly and then wrapped his arm around my waist and turned to look out over the sea. I leant my head on his shoulder and sighed as I watched the sea moving. Joe drew circles on my arm with his thumb and I thought I had never been as comfortable and as happy as I was right then.

After a long while Joe's phone rang. He looked at the screen and smiled before answering it. "We're outside," he said and I knew he was talking to one of his brothers. "No, it's ok," he said smiling. He then hung up and put his phone in his pocket. He turned to me and smiled. "I knew they'd come out too soon," he said and I smiled as well. He kissed me softly and then we got up off the wall just as Nick and Kevin reached us. Joe kept his arm around me and I stayed close to him.
"We should be getting back," Kevin said. "I think Rachel will have a panic attack if we're out much longer." Nick laughed and Joe nodded.

We walked back to the car slowly and Joe and I got into the back seat again. "So what tomorrow?" Nick asked and I smiled.
"What do you want to do?" I asked them.
"There's a fun fair, isn’t there?" Kevin asked.
"Yeah," I smiled. I went to the fun fair every year. And every year I had fun.
"So a fun fair tomorrow," Joe said and I nodded. He turned to me. "I'll meet you in the cafe at the same time?" I smiled and nodded.

Joe's POV

The drive back was too quick. Before I realised it Kevin was pulling into the car park in the hotel. I got out of the car and Megan followed. Kevin and Nick had said bye to Megan and were walking away. I knew I should go with them but I couldn’t bring myself to walk away from Megan. She looked up into my eyes and smiled, "I'll see you tomorrow." I nodded and kissed her gently. "You better go. I'll speak to you later." She kissed my cheek and then walked away. I watched her go until she had gone round the corner. I ran and caught up with Nick and Kevin who smiled at me.
"She's nice," Nick said and Kevin agreed.
"Refreshing," he said. I smiled and nodded.
"I think..." I said softly as I stopped walking. They did the same and looked at me. "...I have a problem." They looked at me knowingly. After all, they had warned me. I just didn't know I would fall this hard and this fast.
"Make the most of the time you've got," Kevin said as he put his arm around my shoulders. Nick smiled at me and then we started walking.
"It's not fair to her," I said, not wanting to hurt Megan. I knew that if we got closer I would hurt her when I left. I didn't want that. Not at all.
"She knows that we're leaving in a month. She'll want the best month of her life. So give it to her," Kevin said. I nodded and smiled slightly. Then we got to our room.

"Where the hell have you been?" Rachel screamed when we opened our door. I ignored her and went to the window. I smiled, Megan was sitting on the beach. I wanted to go to her desperately. Then a hand gripped my arm and spun me round. I came face to face with Rachel. "You can't just go running off! What if you'd gotten lost!?"
"We had a guide," Nick said and Rachel let go of me and turned to him.
"A guide?" she asked her voice too low to pass for normal.
"Yeah, Joe met a girl and she's showing us round," Nick said and I sighed and shook my head.
"A girl!? She probably is just out to be seen with The Jonas Brothers!" Rachel shouted.
"No," I said as I looked back out of the window. "She's not like that."
"You-"
"She's not," Kevin said. "She's totally different to others. She's..." He trailed off, unsure how to describe her.
"She treats us like normal," Nick said and I smiled. They continued on with the argument and I went out onto the balcony and shut the sliding door behind me.

The noise was instantly silenced and all I could hear were the waves. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and phoned Megan. I watched her take her phone out of her pocket. I wished I could see her face when she saw it was me phoning, was she happy? "Hey," she said and I could hear the smile in her voice. I smiled.
"Hi," I said. "I can see you." I frowned at how weird that sounded. I watched her look around. "Look up." She looked towards the hotel and then she saw me and grinned.
"I can see you, too," she said. "Were you in tons of trouble?"
"Yeah," I said. "Kevin and Nick are arguing with Rachel right now."
"Will you be able to get out tomorrow?" she asked hesitantly and I smiled.
"Nothing will stop us," I said surely. I had never been so sure of anything. I was going to spend the next month with Megan. Every day of it.
"So, how come you aren’t in there arguing?" she asked and I smiled.
"I couldn’t concentrate," I said, smiling. "I was thinking."
"Of what?" she asked and I could tell she was smiling.
"You," I said and I saw her look down. I knew she was blushing. "What about you? How come you were out here?"
"I was thinking," she said. "I always come here to think."
"And what were you think of?" I asked her.
"Us," she said softly and my heart started racing.
"What about us?" I asked her, my voice just as soft as hers. She paused before answering.
"I don’t want the next month to end," she said sadly. She looked away from me, out across the ocean. I didn't take my eyes off her and even though I was looking at her back, I could tell there were tears in her eyes. It took all my will power not to go down to her and take her into my arms.
"Me neither," I said softly. "But just because the month ends it doesn’t mean we will." She turned back around and looked up at me. I saw a smile on her lips.
"You're right," she agreed. "I should go, my parents will be wondering where I am."
"I'll see you," I said and she nodded.
"Bye," she said softly.
"Bye," I replied and closed my phone. She did the same but didn't move. She stayed looking up at me. She suddenly looked down at the phone in her hand and brought it up to her ear. She said something and then smiled at me and turned and walked away.
