I'll Lose Myself in Anguish for Tonight
One Last Fast Apology
Lina started to well up.
"Lina? Look, you're my friend, and I want to help you. But I can't make much of a sincere effort unless I know what’s going on. Or at least the basic gist of the story." Corey came over to her. He took her hand, helped her off the couch, and gave her a hug.
Lina started to cry gently into his shoulder. That’s no surprise.
"Lina, it's going to be okay. Everything will be okay. Here, come into the kitchen, have a drink, sit down, and we can figure this out once you've calmed down, okay? Panic isn't going to help anything, and I don't mean that in a bad way."
"I understand, Corey. I guess I get a little worked up sometimes." She had stopped crying. "I'm sure we can find some sort of solution to this mess." She said, a hint of emotion still in her voice.
Lina broke away from Corey, and went to the kitchen. She sat on a barstool, and wiped her eyes. Corey came into the kitchen, and sat down beside her.
"Do you want anything? I mean before we converse about this whole situation?" It was obvious that Corey was confused, but trying really hard.
"A glass of water would be great." She faked a smile.
Ten seconds later, Lina was slowly sipping ice water from a clear blue glass.
"Okay, so would you care to explain? I'm still as confused as ever." A worried look crossed his face, and disappeared in a split second. Lina barely saw it, but she knew that Corey was starting to get upset and worried.
"First of all, Corey, thank you so much for being such a good friend. I'm really sorry that I kind of barged in and didn't call first."
"Lina, it's really fine. It's nice to finally see you after a while. Granted, the circumstances could be better, but still, seeing you now is better than not seeing you at all. I would absolutely love to help you out. But please, the suspense is killing me!" he said it with a small smile on his face, but indicating that he really did care, and that he DID recognize that this was probably NOT a laughable issue.
"Right. I'm sorry this has been so delayed. So what happened was..."
