Promise Not to Break My Little Heart or Leave Me All Alone

We talked and got to know each other more that night. I found out that he was there to relax as well and to take a break from everything in his life. I didn’t ask any further because I might encroach his privacy already. That was enough information for me. He was a funny and smart guy. With the way he talked, I was sure that he was clever. He used words that normal people wouldn’t use. Or maybe he writes?

“Enough about me, how about you? Why are you here alone?” he asked, which disturbed my train of thought

“Oh, uh, I also wanted to unwind and forget about college first.”

“You’re in college?”

“Yeahp, It’s my last year. I was in the verge of dropping out because I was so sick of studying but then I thought about how it’ll disappoint my family”

He nodded

“So, where do you study?”

“University of Las Vegas. Yeah, I am from Vegas” I told him because whenever I tell people that I study there, they would automatically ask, “You’re from Vegas?”

His eyes widened “Really? I am also from there actually but I don’t live or stay there often. I go around places”

“You gotta be kidding me. What a small world!” I exclaimed

“No, of course I am not joking. That’s weird, what a coincidence”

“So, how about you? Are you still stuck in College or you finally broke free?” I joked

“Hmm, well, it’s hard to explain because—I want to call it as I was too good for College so I dropped out thing” he said

“Oh. You dropped out? Well, that takes a lot of courage! I couldn’t do it myself. I look up to you.” I complimented him

“I guess so but my parents kinda took it badly at first but I had to do what I needed to do you know”

“Yeahp” I agreed, not pushing it further. He was telling me information that was too private as it is already and I didn’t want to go any deeper.

“You’re really a unique girl. Usually people would scold me for dropping out and tell me that I wasted my future. But you, it looks like you understand where I stand” he told me

“That’s because I feel the same way”

After that, we just sat there in silence, gazing at the beautiful scene in front of us. I liked this beach a lot because it wasn’t too crowded. It is a little hidden from everyone else so vacationers don’t notice it at first. I like to call it as a virgin beach because it still had its natural beauty and it wasn’t ruined by tourists yet.

I noticed that I was getting a little drowsy already.

“Ryan, I think I need to take a nap” I tell him as I yawn

He laughed and patted my head

“You look cute when you yawn”

I blush a little and decided to say goodbye before he notices.

“Thanks? I better go now, before I fall straight to sleep here on the beach” I spoke as I stand up

He stood up as well

“Okay then, I’ll let you go, but with one condition though” he grinned

“And what is that?” I asked, feeling a wide smile forming on my face

“I need to see you again. I don’t care how, but I want to talk to you some more” he said

“Alright” I got a pen from my bag and grabbed his arm

I slowly wrote my cell phone number on his arms

“Here’s my number, you can talk to me anytime you want” I smile up to him as I wrote the last number

“There. Happy now?” I smirked at him

“Certainly”

With that, I turned around and hurried to the hotel. I was getting sleepy by the minute.

I had to get some sleep.
