Goodbyes and Apologies

A promise, I hope he'll keep

September 16, his birthday and the very same day his truck would throttle and stroll off, the day he’s moving.
I was in one corner of the park passed by joggers and people; I looked down at their shadows continuously as I deeply contemplated.
Nick Jonas, my best friend, is flying off to broad way, to be a singer, to be famous, to meet stars, and to live the dream.
“Hey,” came a voice tapping me by shoulder. I smiled and saw my best friend. “Hello!” I replied.
“I guess you’ve heard?” he asked sitting down on another swing.
“Apparently, yes, and sadly,” I simply retorted, smirking.
“I’m sorry, but it’s for the family,” he explained, while standing up and swung my swing.
“I understand,” I said tilting my head back at him, and I saw his gorgeous enthralling smile.
"Jen, can we still be...um..----" I cut him off.
"Friends? Yeah," I said numbly.
"No, I mean, best friend?" he asked shyly.
"Sure, but it always depends," I said closing my eyes and feeling the cold morning air.
"What do you mean?" he said, while he stopped pushing my swing and sat down back again.
"If you change, I don't think we'll still be friends," I said acidly.
"Me? Never," he said jollily.
I snorted. "Yeah, right," I said unconvinced.
"Promise," he said.
I remained silent and gave my swing a hault
"Promise!" he repeated louder.
