Chapter 10
As he came to, I smiled, pushing some hair out of his face. Nate groaned, and I laughed quietly.
“Hey. You’re alive.”
“Barely…” his voice was scratchy, cracked.
I just smiled. I was glad to have him back.
“So… how long?” I took that question, and about the other five that I knew were in his head, and tried to answer them as best as I could.
“Um… a few days. And you’re lucky to be alive. And I have no idea what the heck to do now.”
He looked at me, his emerald green eyes dull, but full of life. So full of life. I bit my lip.
"Hey, it's okay. I'm fine." He tried to reassure me. I traced my hand along his face, feeling the strength in it. "We're going to figure out what to do. You and me, together." He smiled at hme, and I just had to smile back.
