Holly had a normal life and normal friends, as a child. Then her dad dies and her mom befriends a certain little bottle and they spend a lot of time together, with her mom always drunk she doesn't know what shes doing and she beats Holly. As a child when her mom started to hit her she started pushing her friends away because she didn't want to hurt them, but Lanie just wouldn't go, Holly tried to be mean but Lanie wasn't going anywhere so she finally told Lanie about her mom. Now as a freshman age 15 Lanie is her only friend, until Tanner comes and he has a few surprising characteristics.
