Sequel: Running With Scissors

Those Worse Off Than You

Part 96

When I got to the hospital, the nurse almost didn't want ot let me see him. But I convinced her. The heavy door slammed behind me and echoed through the room as I approached the bed, coming closer and closer to the scrawny figure under the hospital blanket.

"You're back," he whispered hoarsly, as if he had lost his voice.

"Yes. I said quietly. "Despite my paren't best intentions. What happened to your voice?"

"I was screaming at the nurse."

"Over what?"

"Medical reasons."

"Oh."

"Yea. They had to take me of the IV."

"You were screaming at her over that?"

"No. I was screaming at her cause they wanna put me on all this other shit instead."

"Oh," I stated blankly and sat down next to him.

"Yea...."

"But doesn't you psycologist not want you on meds?"

"Nothing but my anti-deppressants. He says the other ones will interfear with my progress."

"Well then they shouldn't be putting you on anything, should they," I said with a sarcastic smirk.

"No," he replied with the same smile.
