Tell Me How You Love Me Now

The day ended so fast that I was quite shocked to find myself walking to Elliot’s car.

“Today was fast” I whispered to myself

“Yeahp, it was extremely a quick day”

I jumped after hearing a voice that was abnormally close to my ear. I turned around and saw Elliot’s grinning face.

“Whew, you almost gave me a heart attack!” I tell him as we continue to walk

“Sorry” he said with no hint of remorse

I roll my eyes and swiftly walked to the car

“So, what’s up with Luke publicly hugging you during Chem a while ago?” he asked indifferently

“He just got carried away” I mutter as I get into the car

“Carried away? What do you mean by that?” Elliot said, popping his head down to the car

“Because I agreed to go out with him” I say blankly

I could have sworn Elliot’s face turned from a jolly to a depressed one. Without saying a word, he shut the door at my side of the car and he ran to the other side to go in. As soon as he went in, he started the engine and started to drive.

After a few minutes of awkward silence, he finally spoke again

“So, you’ll not be hanging out with us this weekend after all?”

“Oh, no, I am” I smile to him

He turned to me with a confused look

“But you said yes to Luke right?”

“Yeah, but that’ll be next week, Saturday. I’ll be with you guys this weekend’ I clarified

“Oh” he nodded finally understanding what I was trying to say

“Yep” I say happily

“Do…” he looked reluctant on continuing

I gave him an encouraging face for him to continue

”I am sorry, but I am just curious. Do… do you like him?” He asked softly

“Who? Luke?” I ask

“Ye—yeah” he answered without looking at me. His eyes were on the road the entire
time

“Well, uh… he is a nice guy. He has been kind to me ever since I went here so I feel comfortable with him. He doesn’t look bad either. He is quite attractive” I laugh at my last sentence

I turn to Elliot but he didn’t react to anything I said. He looked like he was thinking of something.

“What?” he asked as he saw me looking at him

“Are you thinking of something? You look like you are in deep thought” I question

“Uh… nothing. I was just spacing out I guess” he muttered pulling over to the house.

I nodded then opened my door. Elliot is weird at times. Sometimes he acts normal but time to time, he acts strange. I couldn’t guess why he was like that but maybe he is worrying about something recently.

It’s Friday today and that means I can sleep late. Whew, thank God. I sat on my bed, watching a movie when I hear the door open. I turn to the door to check who it was.

“Hey, can I watch with you?” I hear Diane’s voice coming from the door

“Oh, yeah sure!” I said happily and patted the space beside me “Here, sit here” I smile to her

“Yay! Mom and dad are sleeping and Elliot wants the TV for himself” she said as she plopped down on my bed

“That’s alright, you can watch with me” I say to her

“Oh! Princess diaries! I love that movie!” Diane cheered as she saw what I was watching
I giggled at how excite she looked like

‘I like that movie as well. We all want to be princesses” I say more to myself than her but she might have heard me

“I want to be a princess!” she announces brightly before standing on the bed and jumped

“You are your own princess little Diane” I tell her

“Really? I am?’ she asked with s much enthusiasm

“Of course” I smile to her.

I miss the years when I was still young and all I worry about was how I can become a princess. Sadly, I had to grow up and face the reality that being a princess isn’t that much of a fun thing to be. My life back home is what people would say as a princesses’ life but I wasn’t happy because I exchanged those material things to my dad.

I couldn’t break Diane’s little bubble so I chose to just let her be and let her discover it herself.
