I silently step into the kitchen. I think everyone’s asleep now. It is kinda late. I jumped when I heard someone in the kitchen. I look inside and saw Elliot drinking milk on the table
“Hey. Still awake?” I greet him
“Cant sleep” he smiled “How was the date?”
“It was fun. He is really entertaining” I answer while I sat on a chair across him
He nodded. I think he is scanning my outfit. I can feel his eyes.
“So… you want some?” he offered me the carton of milk
“Thanks, but no thanks” I said, giving the carton back to him
“Not a fan of milk?”
“Hmm, well, I like milk, I just don’t feel like drinking now”
“You look really beautiful tonight” he suddenly said
“Oh, yeah… thanks” I say kinda taken aback
My heart jumped a little when he said that because he was looking straight into my eyes. He looked like he meant it. It felt different when Luke told me I looked pretty. It seemed like Elliot’s complement affected me more. Maybe because he is usually mean to me and I am not used to him being nice.
“You must really have prepared for the date tonight”
“Uh, yeah. Cass helped a lot. I wasn’t really prepared” I laughed
“Hey, uh, I just want to take this chance to say sorry if I freak you out at times like when I just snap out at you. Sometimes I have bad days” he explained
“Well, I do get pissed whenever you snap at me but yeah, I guess it’s all cool now” I smile to him
These are the times wherein I really like Elliot. He can be a very real person to talk to whenever he isn’t PMSing as I would describe it.
The night went on like that. He talked, I talked. It was different from just having a civil talk which usually went on between us. This really looked like a friend to friend talk and I liked it.
“So, tell me the details!” Cassadee asked me as she caught up with me in the hallway
“It was fun, he took me to this fancy restaurant. That’s all” I lied
“Hmph, I know there’s something else. It’s in your face” she pointed out
‘What?” I laugh
“See, you’re laughing!” she accused
“So what if I am laughing? What’s wrong with that?”
“You never randomly laugh like that”
“Okay, fine. I’ll tell you” I tell her
“Spill!”
“He… Luke asked me to be his girlfriend” at the same time I uttered those words, I felt someone tapping my shoulder. I turn around and saw Elliot.
I blinked a few times and looked at him
“Uh, you forgot your book in the car” he said, handing me my Chem book
“Thanks.” I say
“Oh my God! He asked to be your girlfriend? I bet you said yes right away?” Cassadee exclaimed
“Uh, I gotta go now. See you around.” Elliot said, looking straight down the floor
“Actually, I didn’t answer him yet”
“Wha-what?” Cassadee said
Elliot suddenly jerked his head up. I can’t help but smile to myself. I bet he was also curious if I was someone else’s girlfriend already.
“I am really not sure about us yet. I told him I’d think about it”
“That is so pointless! Why did you say that? You should have said yes straight away! That was Luke for god’s sake” Cass ranted
“I don’t want to take it too fast, you know”
“Okay then” she rolled her eyes and glanced at Elliot “I thought you were just leaving?” she asked seeing Elliot standing beside her
“Uh, yeah. I’ll be going now” he smiled and walked away
“Something’s up with Elliot. He’s acting all weird and daydreamy” Cass muttered
“Yeah I noticed” I mumble as we both walk to our next class
“So, when are you planning on answering Luke?” Cass asked during lunch
“Whoa, there. What are you both talking about?” Alex asked
“Luke asked her to be this girlfriend” Cass announced
“Wow, really?” Jersey said
“That is fast” Mike said while reading a book
“You haven’t studied for the test yet I bet” Cass sighed
“Uhm, nope. That’s why I am studying now”
“Guys.” Cass shook her head
“Anyway, about Luke, are you saying yes? When?” Jersey asked
“Hmm, not sure yet. I don’t want to be so fast in answering him. I want to make sure of other things first” I didn’t realize that I was looking at Elliot walking away as I said this. I immediately glanced away as soon as I caught myself.
“Well, I am sure other guys who like you will be worried by now” Alex said
“Psh, no one else likes me. I am lucky that Luke gave me a second look actually” I laugh
“Oh boy, you don’t know anything Kay” Alex chuckled
“What does that suppose to mean?’ Cass asked curiously
“Yeah?” I added
“Nothing” Alex said, and went back to eating his sandwich
