I wake up the next morning thinking that I was still back at home. It took me a few seconds to remember all the things that had happened yesterday. I hate it whenever I forget! I groan as I slowly stand up to wash my face. After freshening up, I picked something to wear outside. I am planning to take a walk and familiarize myself with the place. I take one last look at myself in front of the mirror then took a deep breath
“I can do this” I tell myself as I walk out the door.
This is my first day in this new environment and I am a little scared on how today will go. I have to be extra nice today for I wouldn’t want to scare people off.
I noticed that it was still kinda early. It was just 6 am. I guess I woke up too early. I got a post-it the scribbled a note for Beth saying that I’ll be just going around the placed and that I’ll be back around ten or eleven just in case she’ll look for me. With that, I grabbed my purse and exited the house.
The place looked orderly. There were a lot of trees around and the whole place was clean. I walk along the sidewalk until I reached the more public part of it. There were many stores around. I immediately spot Starbucks and I decided to drink coffee first.
I went in and I noticed that it was half empty. What time do people wake up around here? I rang the service bell and a guy with long brown and fluffy hair suddenly popped out form under the counter.
“Hey, may I take your order?” he asked sheepishly
“I’d like to have a latte” I answered as I read his name tag. His name was Alex.

“Will that be all?” he asked as he tried to stop himself from yawning.
“Yes that’s all. It’s bad to stop yourself from yawning. Did you know that?” I ask him as he handed him my payment
“Sorry, I hate this shitty summer job. I haven’t gotten enough sleep for weeks now. What’s you name?” he sighed as he gave me my change
“Kay Leigh.” I look at him as he wrote it on the cup
“Nice name, oh shit, how do you spell it?” he said writing letters in thin air
“K-A-Y-L-E-I-G-H” I spelled out, laughing a bit
“Got it.” He smirked as he put the cup down
“I guess you’re saving up for something that’s why you’re doing this?” I inquire as I wait for my order to come. I mean, no one will work for the sake of it. This guy might have something to use the money on
“Yeah, I am planning to buy a new guitar actually. My old one’s giving up on me. I had it ever since I was ten and it’s a little ancient already” he chuckled
“Oh, well, it’s good that you are trying” I smile back
“Here’s your order… Kayleigh” he grinned at me
“Thanks” I said while I got the cup
“Are you new here?” he asked me as I sip my coffee
“Uh-huh” I answered
“Just what I thought. I’ve never seen you around here.” He smiled again.
“I am Alex by the way’ he offered his hand to me
“Hi, Alex Lipshaw” I say, reading his name tag again
“OH, man, I forgot to remove that. I hate wearing this tag. Random people would know my name, and not just that, they’ll know my family name as well” he whined as he yanked the tag off
“I can do this” I tell myself as I walk out the door.
