Sequel: Black Rose

Statues Without Eyes

If You Had My Love

Being in the lab again was different. I mean, coming off of a competition like that, then being stuck looking through evidence was a total buzz kill. Granted it had been 3 weeks since the last competition but still. I hadn't been doing much this morning except texting Kyle back and forth since he heard about a competition in two weeks in Chicago and was trying to convince me to take them. And to be honest, he was doing a pretty good job of convincing his big sister, although it didn't take much to do it anyways. Just the whole, tiny little thing that only 3 people know about.

Today was pretty much a slow day until I found out they were reopening that golf club murder thing since some evidence wasn't adding up to the victim being killed indoors. I was about to head out with Natalia when the one person who shouldn't even set foot in here was at the front desk asking for me.

"Cooper?"I glared as Natalia looked between the two of us.
"Hey,"He smiled.
"You're not supposed to be here."
"Scared?"
"Of you?"I scouffed,"No. What do you want?"
"Sy, I can get-"Natalia started.
"It's fine,"I nodded,"I'll catch up with you later, ok?"
"Alright,"She nodded at me.
"So much tension towards me,"He laughed.
"State what you want,"I crossed my arms at him.
"I've got information for you,"He smiled.
"About?"
"Where you're mom is?"
"And I should trust you because?"I looked at him.
"She's back in Russia,"He looked at me,"You think you know her."
"And yet you think I should trust you but you're friends with Marco now, threatening me at the competition."
"Hey, I just thought I'd let you know,"He held up his hands defensively,"Oh and you're still being watched."
"Get out of my sight,"I seethed as he walked off with a smirk on his face. I'd give anything to smack it off him right now but I didn't want to risk anything.

"Hey,"Eric walked up next to me,"Everything ok?"
"Yeah,"I looked at him.
"What was up with Cooper?"
"He's an ass,"I rolled my eyes.
"You're not telling me everything,"Eric looked at me.
"I will eventually,"I smiled as I turned to walk off,"But for now, I'm fine, we have work to do."
"Sylar, if you're,"Eric stopped me.
"Thank you,"I smiled at him,"But the best you can do right now is come help me with evidence."
"Ok,"He sighed knowing he wasn't going to win the arguement with me right now.

Going through the evidence was almost putting me to sleep, I swear it was had it not been for Eric who kept talking to me. It was still early but all the sudden, I just wasn't feeling good. I felt dizzy and my stomach churned which I stopped what I was doing.
"Hey,"Eric looked at me,"You ok?"
"I don't know,"I swayed a bit feeling a wave of dizzyness sweep over me.
"Here sit down,"Eric helped me to the chair as I sat down, closing my eyes hoping it would pass,"Don't tell me you're getting sick on me now."
"No,"I groaned trying to stop the dizzyness,"Just give me a few."
"You sure? I mean if you need to leave-"
"I'll be fine,"I smiled lightly at him as I felt my stomach slowly settled down and the room wasn't spinning so much now.
"Is it part of what you're not telling me?"
"Still can't tell you yet?"I smirked as he just laughed a bit.
"You are stubborn, you know that right?"
"Duh."
A while later, Eric and Ryan went to go out in the field to check out evidence as I was still in the lab. Super boring actually, being stuck inside when it's nice out.

As Eric and Ryan rode in the car, Eric decided he should try to bring up how I felt earlier this morning.
"So I think Sylar's coming down with something,"Eric looked over at Ryan as he drove.
"Why do you say that?"
"She got really dizzy earlier when we were looking at evidence."
"Oh,"Ryan looked at him,"She'll be ok. She's not sick though."
"How do you know?"Eric raised an eyebrow at him.
"Trust me,"He smirked,"I just do. Did she say anything to you about it?"
"No, she said she would later but all she told me is she'll be fine."
"She will be,"Ryan smiled,"But she's not coming down with something."
"How can you be sure? I mean she has been traveling and through a lot lately."
"Just trust me,"Ryan smiled at him,"She knows what's wrong."

Back at the lab, I was finally feeling better as I went to find Calleigh in the lab.
"Hey Calleigh,"I smiled at her lightly.
"Hey,"She smiled,"Eric said you weren't feeling good?"
"Man he tells everyone doesn't he?"I laughed.
"He was worried,"She smiled,"You're like a little sister to him ever since he found you that day."
"I know,"I nodded as I slid on some gloves,"But I'm fine, he shouldn't worry so much."
"You're not going to puke on my evidence are you?"Calleigh laughed as I looked at her.
"No,"I shook my head,"It was just a bit of morning sickness."
Before I could correct myself, I felt my cheeks get warm from heat as Calleigh turned to give me that look in her eye.
"Morning sickness?"
"Um, yeah, I ate breakfast too early,"I shrugged,"It happens, can't eat early in the mornings."
"Sylar-"
"Calleigh,"I looked at her with a small smile.
"Are you?"
"What's everyone's fasnication with wanting to know what's up with me?"
"We just want to make sure you're ok."
"Fine,"I shrugged,"Could've been the traveling."
"You do know I've heard so many lies in my life I know when someone's lying,"She smirked.
"And I'm good at lying,"I smirked back,"So to find the truth you're going to have to dig a bit deeper than that."
"Don't make me process you,"I heard her laugh which I couldn't hold back my laughter.
"It's not a crime,"I looked at some evidence with her,"Besides you'll probably put it together soon."

As we kept working on evidence, that lawyer guy, Derrick walked into the lab to see me working on evidence with Calleigh in which he called her out about something that directed his attention towards me.
"And I want her off the case,"He pointed to me,"I don't want anyone who kills their friend handling evidence."
"Excuse me?"I raised an eyebrow at him as he smirked.
"You heard me."
I pulled off the gloves to walk through the door to walk over to him only hearing Calleigh follow me,"I didn't kill him."
"That's not what I've heard."
"You really need to get your fact's straight,"I glared as he just smirked at me.
"We'll see about that."
"That's it,"I glared and went to lundge at him but found myelf being stopped by someone holding me back which wasn't Calleigh since she was pushing him the way out ,"Let go of me."
"Calm down,"Eric held onto me as I watched him give a smirk and a wave at me.
"I'll show you calm,"I seethed as Eric finally let me go after he left the building.
"Just let it go, he's not worth."
"You "let it go","I glared at him then walked off in a huff.

"Sylar,"Horatio called out from the hallway,"I need to talk to you, now."
Sighing, I semi-stormed off as Horatio directed me to a room where I sat at a table waiting for him to walk back into the room. It was so like I was being lectured right now which even at my age, it wasn't fun.
