Sequel: Black Rose

Statues Without Eyes

This Time

Eric looked at Ryan as I walked out the door with a smirk.

"You two trying to make another?" He chuckled as Ryan squirmed.
"Eric," Calleigh rolled her eyes at him, "We don't need to know what they do in their life."
"You wanted to know what was taking him so long to answer the door," Eric laughed at her as Natalia shuddered.
"Gross."
"For the record, she started it," Ryan leant back as he looked at them, "And if she's ready to and it's ok, then we could."
"Anyways," Natalia interupted, "How's it been with Tyler?"
"Not as bad as I thought," Ryan sighed for a second, "He wakes up at least 3 times at night but it's usually around the same time and Sy goes to feed him."
"Just wait until he gets older," Calleigh looked at Eric holding him, "Then you'll be up feeding and changing him, giving that poor girl a break."

Meanwhile, I drove out to the everglades as I met Jake who was standing outside his car, the hot sun beating down on us.

"What's up?" I asked as I walked towards him as he handed me a file.
"That's everything you wanted to know about the Russian mob's hit on Eric."
"Don't say anything to anyone," I looked at him as I skimmed the file, "I don't want them to worry about it."
"You have my word," He smiled at me then paused in which I knew he had something to add, "There is something else?"
"What?" I asked while not looking up at him.
"Jesse Cardoza, remember that name?"
"No," I thought until I finally thought about it as I looked up at him, "Wait, Jesse, you mean the one?"
"Yeah the one that you always "hated" in competitions since he'd come out just to flirt with all the girls, act like he was one of you but wasn't."
"That Jesse?" I looked at him as he nodded.
"Also the one you had a fling with for how long was it now?" Jake smirked as I rolled my eyes.
"It's not important. What about him?"
"He's coming back to Miami, to work as a CSI again."
"And?" I drew out as Jake smirked at me.
"That means he'd be here and I don't think he knows you're not single anymore."
"So?"
"What'd you do with him last time?" Jake smirked as my eyes went wide and I blushed.
"It's not important. I'm with Ryan now and we've got a beautiful baby boy."
"Which, by the way, we should get going," Jake smirked at me as he walked to his car, "I"ll just leave me car at the house and then you can drive me."

Getting back into the car, the drive to the house was quiet since everytime I went to talk to Jake, he try to figure out more about what happened between me and Jesse that I never told him. It wasn't none of his business really but I could see how this would cause tension between him and Ryan. Kind of like the whole "Hey, I've slept with your girl many times, even ran off to Spain for two weeks with her", yeah not something I wanted to deal with right now.

As I got back in the house, I noticed that Ryan was gone and the rest of everyone was just sitting around.

"Where's Ryan and my son?" I asked as I looked at them, setting my keys down.
"Diaper change," Calleigh smiled at me.
"Aww poor thing," I laughed as I sat on a chair, "It won't kill him."
"That's what I said," Natalia laughed, "He's had to process worse things in the crime lab."
"I know right, especially with that wood chipper," I shuddered at the thought, "I don't think Tyler's that bad."
"I sure hope not," Eric laughed as Ryan walked back out with Tyler in his arms as he brought him back to me.
"There's mommy Tyler," Ryan smiled as he placed the tiny child in my arms, "We'll have to get more diapers tomorrow before work."
"Ok," I nodded as Ryan stood next to me, "Hey, are we cooking or ordering out?"
"I ordered pizza while you were out," Ryan nodded, "And H called."
"About what?"
"Bringing Tyler over in a few days."
"Oh, grandpa time," I smiled at him, "You told him it's ok right?"
"Of course," He kissed me quickly as he walked to the kitchen, "Anyone want anything?"

Ryan got everyone a drink as we sat around talking when the pizza finally came by then I was starving to death. So was a tiny one in my arms in which I went into the kitchen to go feed him as everyone else talked for a while. After I finished, I walked out of the kitchen with Tyler who was slowly starting to fall asleep by 5 now.

"I'm going to go put him to bed," I looked at everyone.
"I'll meet you there in a second," Ryan smiled as I nodded then headed to the nursery.

As I slowly placed Tyler in the crib, his tiny eyes closed slightly as I smiled when Ryan walked into to see me standing there.

"Wow, looks like someone was tired," Ryan whispered as I smiled.
"He was," I took his hand as we walked out to everyone to talk to them for a while.

I was deep in thought about Jake's news about Jesse coming back when I didn't notice people were trying to get my attention.

"Sylar," Eric mentioned, "We've been trying to talk to you."
"Sorry," I looked at them as I shook my head, "Will you excuse me?"

I got up from the chair I was sitting in as I walked outside to the setting sun and warm air of the backyard as I heard someone follow me.

"Sylar?" I heard Jake ask as I looked at him slightly but didn't turn around, "Jesse?"
"What I'm about to tell you, you promise you won't say anything to anyone right?"
"Of course," He smiled as we moved away from the door and I went to lean against a tree for a second.
