Sequel: Black Rose

Statues Without Eyes

My Secret

"What's going on?" Calleigh asked from her sleep as I threw on a hoodie again.
"Tyler's sick," I sighed while setting him in the play pen for a second, "I called Alexx and she said to call his doctor so we're taking him in."
"I'm sorry," Calleigh smiled lightly at me.
"It's all part of being a parent," I shrugged as I looked at her, "You can stay here if you want."
"You won't mind?"
"Nah," I smiled at her, "You need a place to go right now."
"Thanks. Hey, where's Ryan anyways?" She asked as that smile crept up onto my face.
"He's changing."
"Why?"
"Tyler puked on him," I tried my best not to laugh, "I mean it's not funny because Tyler's sick but it is since Ryan got hit by all of it."
"Poor guy," Calleigh smirked.
"Yeah, I know right?"

Soon Ryan headed into the living room where he grabbed his keys then I went to get Tyler out of the play pen. With one last wave, we headed to the hospital where we got Tyler checked in and waited on his doctor.

"At least his fever went down," Ryan smiled while holding onto my hand.
"I know right," I rested my head on his shoulder, "Hopefully it's nothing too bad."
"It'll be ok," Ryan kissed me on the forehead quickly as the doctor came back in to check out Tyler.

It was a short visit but the doctor just said it was a mild case of the flu and he should be fine within the next couple days with with some medicine. As the doctor gave us the prescription, we headed to get the prescription then back home since we both had to be at work in the morning but we were probably going to switch off on watching Tyler.

By that time, Calleigh had already gone home , I think to avoid a sick kid. Which meant that it was just me and Ryan again. I was about to crash into the bed since it was late when Tyler started to cry again.

"I got puked on," Ryan smirked as I rolled my eyes.
"You know that's not a free pass right?" I sighed getting out of bed, "I'm not taking care of him myself just because he's sick."
"Please Sy?" Ryan pleaded as I walked towards the door.
"Just this once, then you've got to help me."
"I will," He smiled as I went to check on Tyler.

Mainly I gave him his second dose of medicine since the doctor said it would be about an hour after we got home which it was. Finally as he calmed down and went back to sleep, I made my way back to bed as I crawled into it with Ryan. I was laying on my back as Ryan moved so that he was half on top of my, running his finger tips across my stomach lightly.

"You seriously aren't trying to start something are you?" I raised an eyebrow at him,
"Sorry hormones," He smirked down at me.
"For one, you're not pregnant and two our son is sick in the next room."
"But we've done it in stranger situations, like at work in the back of your car," Ryan smirked as I rolled my eyes, "What's really bugging you?"
"I'm just worried about Tyler."
"He'll be fine," Ryan smiled as he kissed my lips slightly, "The doctor's even said so."
"I know, it's just I don't want to lose him."
"You won't. Where's this all coming from Sylar?"
"I can't say," I looked away from him as he turned my face towards him.
"You can tell me anything."
"You have to know what I'm about to tell you, happened in the past. You can't think differently of me or hate me or anything."
"I promise, I won't," Ryan looked down at me as I took a deep breath.

"When I was with Jesse, I was careless, wild, everything but I did love him," I started out as I tried to find the way to put things, "We were close and everything, serious about settling down and then well I got pregnant. He was happy, I never seen that happiness in his eyes. So two months goes by and I'm trying to get used to being pregnant when I started getting really bad cramps. They were the worst things ever, I couldn't eat, couldn't sleep, barely walk so I went to the doctor after a few days of this. When I got to the doctor, they had me under close watch, didn't tell me much about the baby but that night, I, um," fumbled trying to think of what to say.

"You what, Sylar?" Ryan looked seriously at me.
"I had a miscarriage," I felt the tears sting my eyes as I watched Ryan's shocked look to his face.

"I was devasted, I felt like I let everyone down. Jesse mainly and I was so hurt, especially when doctor's told me that I might not be able to have kids again."

"Sy, I'm so sorry," Ryan brushed a few tears off my cheek, "I didn't know."
"I was so scared to tell you," I whispered at him, "I didn't want you to think badly of me or like I caused it or something."
"Baby, no," Ryan stopped me, "It wasn't your fault. It just wasn't your time to have kids yet. But now you have Tyler and he's healthy."
"Well-"
"Except right now," Ryan smiled at me, "And I promise you, I'll keep him safe forever too."
"Thank you."
"Alright," He nodded as I nodded back at him, "I love you."
"I love you too."

Falling asleep, Ryan's arms went around my lower stomach protectively as he held onto me to let me know he was still there. It was just step one in getting my past out of the way before I married him.
