Sequel: Black Rose

Statues Without Eyes

In the Heat of the Moment

The track had been empty right now. Tyler had gotten over being sick last week and I was making my own decisions again. Well it wasn't that bad but still. Horatio had the day off so he took Tyler to the zoo with Kyle as Ryan went to work.

I stood on the hill with my bike as I looked out into the open. It was still early but not too bad. I was seriously coming back to this sport, I missed it most of all. Sure, we needed the extra money too but that wasn't my main flow of thinking. I just wanted to get back into the swing of things and start this again. Plus Ryan had been talking to me about starting up an extra job since we needed the money. This could work.

Slowly sliding the helmet over my eyes, I started the bike again then took to pulling off crazy tricks that I haven't in the past 9 or so months. Little did I know that as I was pulling off my tricks, someone was watching me. Feeling free by pulling cliffhangers than going for the flips, I finished a run to take a quick break as I heard clapping.

Turning, I seen Jesse smile at me as he walked up to me.

"Wow, you're still amazing," He smiled.
"What are you doing here?" I questioned as I took a drink of water, "Aren't you supposed to be working with my boyfriend?"
"Yes," He smiled at me slightly, "What about you?"
"I was off today," I caught my breath.
"Shouldn't you be with your son?"
"H's took him to zoo," I smiled at him, "But seriously you didn't answer my question about being here."
"I was driving by," He shrugged, "Seen someone out here so I thought I'd check it out."
"I see," I nodded as I sat on my bike.
"You coming back to this?"
"I'm thinking about it," I shrugged, "I mean I've missed it like crazy then we do need the extra money."
"You know if you need extra money-"
"Jesse, no," I looked at him, "I'm not taking your money."
"But if you need it-"
"We're fine," I smiled at him lightly, "Thank you though."
"Have you talked to Ryan about coming back here?"
"No," I shook my head, "I mean, he'd be too worried and then I'd get tired of hearing it from him."
"I could talk to him," He shrugged.
"Why?"
"Because this makes you happy Sylar," Jesse smiled, "It's the least I could do."
"Thx," I smiled at him as he nodded.
"I better be getting back to work then," He turned to leave when I figured I'd tell him.
"Oh hey Jesse."
"Yeah?" He stopped to look at me.
"I told Ryan about well, the bad happening," I shrugged looking down, "I figured he should know since it was my body too."
"It's ok," He nodded with a slight smile, "It needed to be said."

I smiled as I watched Jesse leave again as I went back to the track. I was working on runs for a good part of the day as Jesse went back to work with Ryan since he had paged him on the way there.

"What's up Wolfe?" Jesse asked as he walked into Miami Dade as Ryan pushed him back out the door.
"A murder in down town," He sighed not looking too happy, "The body was found in the alley way."
"Fun," He rolled his eyes as he followed Ryan into the Hummer to head out to the scene, "Hey, Wolfe."
"What?"
"Would you be totally against Sylar getting back into FMX?"
"Why would she want to?" Ryan asked as he drove.
"Because she misses it," Jesse shrugged, "It is a part of her that she can't get rid of."
"Since when do you know so much about her?" Ryan snapped as Jesse backed off.
"What's with the hostility?"
"Nothing," He shook his head, "Sorry, it's just this murder."
"It's never gotten to you before."
"That's because it wasn't ever possibly my girlfriend's mother."
"What?" Jesse's mouth dropped open as he looked at me.
"Yeah," Ryan gave him a slight smile as he parked the car, "I got the call earlier. Horatio's heading this way too."
"Poor girl," Jesse looked at him, "But they weren't close."
"But still, I don't know how much she can take."

Back at the track, I was putting my bike away as I heard someone clear their throat next to me.
"Angelo! God, don't scare me like that," I caught my breath.
"I'm so sorry Sylar."
"It's ok," I half laughed, "What's up?"
"Um."
"What?" I asked looking at him seriously, "Oh god, Ryan."
"He's fine."
"Is it Eric? Jesse?"
"No," He shook his head.
"Then what?"
"It's your mom," Angelo started as I looked at him.
"What about her?"
"She's in trouble."
"Is she dead?" I asked looking at him as he shook his head.
"She, um, she isn't well," Angelo started but I told him to go on, "She's killed two people this morning."
"What?" I looked at him as he put his hands in his pockets.
"There's a body in downtown Miami, Ryan and Jesse are on their way to investigate but it isn't hers."
"So my mom's a serial killer?" I questioned as he gave me a sympathic look.
"She's coming for you."
"Me? Why?"
"She isn't well."
"Then I'll get her help," I looked at him as he let out a sigh.
"There's no saving her now, it's too late."
"So you mean-" I trailed off knowing what was going to happen.
"Yeah."
"Fuck," I mumbled slamming the doors shut as it hurt my head to think.
"I'm sorry."
"Wait, where is Tyler?"
"With Kyle."
"Call my dad and Tripp," I rushed off taking out my keys to Jake's Harley that I took, "Tell them I need back up, now."
"I will," Angelo nodded as I got on the bike and headed to the direction of Kyle's house.
