Sequel: Black Rose

Statues Without Eyes

Get Well Soon

"You know," I took a sip off my smoothie as I looked at Jesse, "It was nice that you got me out of the house but I really do need to get back."
"It's still early," Jesse smiled as I gave him one back.
"I know but Ryan's sick, I need to be there for him. Not to mention I'm leaving this weekend and want to spend time with him before I leave."
"I understand," Jesse nodded.
"Do you?" I questioned as I looked at him, "I mean, it seems like everytime I make it clear that I'm with Ryan or anything, you try to do something to win me back."
"Win you back?" Jesse looked "hurt" by those words but I wasn't buying it, "Where would you get an idea like that?"
"Jesse," I raised an eyebrow, "I knew you inside and out. I know what makes you tick."
"Maybe I'm not ready to let go," Jesse looked down as I gave him a light smile.
"I understand and if you would've found me 10 months ago, things probably would've been different. You need to let me go."
"I can't-"
"We can still talk, hang out like this but you've got to let go of the thought we could get back together. What happened, happened in the past. I don't regret a single second of it. I had an amazing time, but this is the new me. You can either accept it, or I don't know."
"I accept it," Jesse sighed as he looked down at his hands, "Doesn't mean it won't stop my heart from breaking."

I gave him a light sympathic smile since I wasn't sure what to say to that since I knew he was hurting. and even though it could be seen as wrong, mine was slowly breaking too. It's like the words I never got to say which still held a little hurt in them but saying them helped me on some level as well.

"So I'll see you at work tomorrow then?" Jesse asked as I seen tears on the brim of his eyes.
"Of course," I smiled feeling mine threaten to fall.

Jesse soon dropped me back off at home which I watched him as he drove away as I let my tears finally fall before heading back inside. I still had tears running my cheeks as I stepped into the door but as I took a deep breath, I smiled. I knew this is where I belong as I walked through the dark house. I came back to the room where Ryan was sleeping in bed which I smiled at his sleeping frame as I heard Tyler cry in the next room.

Walking quickly to his room, I found him laying in his crib as I slowly turned on the light.

"Hey Tyler," I went to pick him up as he still cried, "What's wrong? You hungry?"

I bounced him a bit as I went to turn off the light then head to the kitchen to find a bottle for him as I started to heat it up. While waiting, I looked in the cupboards for crackers or chicken soup for Ryan but my search turned up empty.

"Crikey, I can't believe we have no chicken soup or crackers," I mumbled as I heard the microwave which I went to test the bottle.

Tyler wouldn't eat it since he kept turning his head away which caused me to sigh since it felt like it would be a long night. That's when I got an idea.

"You wanna go to the store with mommy?" I asked looking at Tyler then at the clock to see it was midnight, "Daddy won't like it but he's sick right now and we've got to take care of him too."

I soon out all of Tyler's things around to make a quick trip to the store. The car ride there actually calmed him down which I smiled to myself since I was making a mental note that car rides helped to stop his crying.

Walking through the pretty empty store was a relief since that meant not many people would be in a line to check out. Not to mention, it was super cute that Tyler's eyes were watching all the lights and everything go by. As we were walking, my phone rang as it was a call from home.

"Hello?"
"Where are you and Tyler?" Ryan croaked out as I gave a light chuckle.
"Aren't you supposed to be in bed?"
"I was for a while until I had to run to the bathroom. I thought I'd check on Tyler. He is with you right?"
"Well it was supposed to be a surprise but I went to the store to find some crackers and soup for you."
"Couldn't it have wait to morning?"
"Yes but your son was a fuss, the car ride actually calms him down when he's super fussy."
"Are you coming home soon?"
"Give me like 20 minutes and I'll be back."
"Ok."
"I'll take care of you, promise."
"Alright," I heard Ryan let out a small groan.
"Rest, we'll be home shortly."

After hanging up, I looked at Tyler who was watching me, "Guess we got to go home to sicky daddy now."

I got home about half an hour later since the cashier was super slow which was annoying since I just wanted to get home again. The ride back actually put Tyler back to sleep, whom which I put in his crib before bringing in the rest of the groceries.

After I go them all put away, I made my way back to bed in which Ryan was asleep again as I crawled into bed next to him. I fell asleep shortly after when I was woken up by my phone by my nightstand.

"Hello?"
"Sylar," I heard my dad, "I need you to come in right away."
"Ok," I yawned as I paused, "Oh wait, dad. Ryan's sick so I half to bring Tyler in to work today."
"I need you in the field this morning."
"I don't have a sitter," I reasoned as I heard him pause.
"I'll have Valera watch him until you come back in."
"Thank you."

I hung up my phone, running a hand over my face to find that it was 6 am as I slowly got to get out of bed, then dressed. I then went to get Tyler up, fed, dressed, and ready to be in the lab all day when I went back to check on Ryan.

"Hey," I whispered down to him as his eyes slowly opened, "I've got to go to work, I'm taking Tyler with me, ok?"
"Ok," He whispered back as I smiled lightly at him.
"How are you feeling?"
"Like shit," He mumbled as I watched him shiver.
"I'll try to get home early, you just rest," I kissed him quickly on the forehead as I backed away, "If you do get hungry, there's soup and crackers. I also picked up a few movies for you too."
"Thank you," Ryan's eyes slowly started to close as I stood back up.
"I'll be back later," I walked to the door as I stopped quickly, "Love you Ryan."
"I love you too," I heard Ryan mumble in a sleep like state.
